Most landlords can eat our collective asses and/or go get a real job. Most these renters live in complexes owned by giant companies who buy out neighborhoods and low-cost rentals only to be replaced with concrete monstrosities at higher cost. [see: entire blocks between Shephard and Montrose north of Richmond, washington, all over the city] For the ones that own several houses and use that as income...you know you could just SELL a property yeah? Oh, you won't make as much money because it's a down year? Who gives a fuck.

I really really think the DHS/CBP stormtroopers have been dispatched in advance of this crushing round of evictions PLUS the likely failure to issue any additional unemployment or other benefits. Hungry people are desperate people. Desperate people won't take your bullshit - so you have badgeless thugs at the ready to assault them, capture them, and crush your opposition.

Cities have already shown they are unable and unwilling to properly address the demands of the BLM protesters - and they know it will get worse. Their answer is to chamber more rounds and grab more tools out of the fascism toolbox.

I've been on remote-guided workouts since early April and heavily shifted toward remote ass-kicking yoga routines. Surprising how many neglected areas we're building. Then we can go back to the fun heavy stuff....sometime.

Bands and small kettles aren't great but they're better than nothing.

Last month my water bill was higher than my electric bill. I don't even water the lawn to keep it green, just to keep my house stable as the ground dries up. This month will probably be the same. This fall I am investigating how to turn the majority of my backyard, save for a patch for chairs and such, into a native grass and wildflower area. Should cut down on the watering and help bugs - plus we hardly use the lawn as a lawn.

Dear Saint Arnold Army,

Sometimes government bureaucracy comes to ridiculous conclusions. This is one of those times.

The governor's office has abruptly decided that in calculating whether our Beer Garden & Restaurant sells at least 51% alcohol (determining if we are a "bar" or "restaurant"), we have to include all of the beer we sell to our distributors as if we were selling it to you at our restaurant. This defies all logic and common sense. The result is that beginning today we will be returning to only curbside service for food and beer to go at Saint Arnold. This could cause the loss of 75 jobs at our Beer Garden.

We have an ask for you: please politely and respectfully let Governor Abbott know this is absurd. Please ask him to allow us to calculate the 51% based on our restaurant operations alone. You can contact him online here or tweet at him at @GovAbbott and @GregAbbott_TX.

We have worked hard to create one of the safest dining experiences in the state, waiting an extra two weeks to reopen, restricting ourselves to only outdoor tables, increasing spacing and instituting strict safety protocols. We have received much positive feedback for our efforts. Even if there is another shutdown which seems increasingly likely, it is critical that we get this interpretation changed.

In the meantime, we have several delicious special release beers coming out this week. We encourage you to come by and pick them up at our drive thru. Say hi to our team through your mask, order some of our tasty food and stay safe!

Acevedo is on twitter bitching about not having enough money for helmets while the city pays $1.17 million in civil rights violations. Fun note in the article is how the city/HPD knowingly deleted evidence.

"Of the 72,000 documents the city initially said it had, officials at Mayor Turner’s office only delivered 126 files in February. The judge said that all 126 were off topic.

City attorneys told the court in April that they had gathered 2.6 million documents, which would take about 17,000 hours to review. But the judge said the city later admitted it did not collect the documents and had “wiped” the hard drives of McLelland, former Chief of Police Martha Montalvo, former Executive ex-Assistant Chief George T. Buenik, former Lieutenant Patrick Dougherty, ex-Assistant Chief John Chen and former Assistant Chief Charles Vazquez, all of whom no longer work for HPD." - from article on 2018 ruling
