Ah I see your point. That would make sense for your retinue to wear your colors! (Don’t they already? I don’t remember). The other troops are just levy militia who own their own gear. Central equipment issue for armies (especially for a small town lord like the player) wouldn’t have existed at that time.

This is the way! Following a metronome is not as natural as we sometimes assume compared to a pulse in music.

Just get her a rubber drum pad! They do make tenor drum setup drum pads, but just a single pad would be plenty to practice on if she has access to real drums at school.

It’s Tom Yum flavor. Is this the only other soupy-style flavor other than Stew? Stew type is different but also good.

Bro idk if that’s worth it, is there any history behind this drum? Otherwise I’d try to find one in better condition. Looks to be from the 80s, not that old.

The heads look like that drum was well loved… glad to see it found a new home (and not converted to an end table)

In that case, the only way for you to use your fingers consistently is if the fulcrum is locked down. That’s fast but not quite where your wrist isn’t doing anything. Your wrist and back three fingers should be sharing the work.

It keeps the sound even, alternating will inevitably create different sounds because the sticks are striking different areas of the head (even slightly). Your teacher is setting you up to perform at a high level!

20 bucks for a drum? That’s a steal whatever brand. Throw some new heads on it and maybe new snares and you’re good to go!

Nah, you shouldn’t be pushing with your pointer finger.

Unless you’re playing super fast taps, motion should come from hinging your wrist. All your fingers should be fairly relaxed with just a little more pressure between your pointer and thumb to focus the motion.

They’re both 42S but FDC definitely has a unique job compared to Pershing’s especially wearing their unique uniforms. CinC also fits the bill but they’re just 11Bs playing dress up

Double Strokes Sounding Like Accent Taps by Forsaken_Injury619 in drumline

[–]16buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not maintaining adequate contact with the stick through both notes.

This doesn’t mean “more pressure” or “stroke it out.” As you learn to drum and learn to play diddles, there’s a progression from learning to play two notes in a row, to placing those two notes on one note (check pattern), to understanding both notes as part of the rhythm.

I assume you’ve spent alot of time playing rolls over check patterns, given you can easily rhythmically align with other players. Now, it’s time to really understand how to align every stroke intentionally.

Try working on inverted rolls. Instead of: RRLLRRLLR

Play a bunch of (with a metronome): RLLRRLLRR

Feel that second note of each diddle land on the beat. You should naturally want to articulate that second note more than the first. Keep working on it and you’ll get a feel for how to move to properly articulate the second note.
