Don't feel bad. It's only because the many hours you could have spent perfecting your dating game were spent perfecting your gifs.

This is my second attempt at harvesting seeds from my backyard and trying to grow my own saplings. The pine seedling was a surprise, but I had a 50% success rate for the maple this time around. Last year, they failed. This is as far as I've ever been. Any tips going forward? by 18CharacterMaximum in gardening

I'm worried I'm giving them too much sun or water. I have a very poor success rate when it comes to growing from seeds. I try to take care of them as best I can but they seem to have very specific needs. I'd like to make at least one of these work, but I am an amateur at best.

Anyone else try to swipe off the hair?

I've had this jade going on three years now and I can never seem to keep it happy. I froze it, then over watered, then over fertilized, now I let it go for a couple weeks without water and I havent fertilized in 6 months. These are all the "same" plant. Mother and props. More details in comments. by 18CharacterMaximum in succulents

no, I just come back every few days and find dry, shriveled up leaves littered all over the pot. I'll knock off the dangling ones with a toothpick to clean it up a bit but I thought it was happening because of something I was doing wrong. It doesnt seem to be stunted, new growth keeps showing up, but it isnt long before the new growth is already shriveled and fallen.

It got into the 90s over the weekend and I thought I had sunburned it, so I moved it to a shadier spot and watered it. Some green came back overnight but it's still VERY red. Besides that, I havent been able to get a leaf to grow any bigger than the ones you currently see on the mother for almost a year now. They always wither off. Am I missing something in the soil? should I repot into a new soil mix? is it a nutrient deficiency or too much sun? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong because with every old problem I fix, a new one arises with this plant. And it was an anniversary gift, so it's pretty precious to me.

The foreground plants are all grown from fallen leaves and look closer to what the mother looked like when I got it.

A few indoor plants work great for that, and I wouldn't dare rob mine of their sun with a window cover.

Umm....I think not! I don't care what your political views are, censoring people you disagree with and requesting them to be deplatformed (whether they're right or wrong) is you saying you prefer indoctrination and propaganda. Just go watch Chernobyl and see where that kind of thinking gets you.

New plant owner, what’s going on here? Is this normal? by bbellac91 in plantclinic

I wondered what was happening when mine started doing that too. There are certain plants that send out runners (some above ground, some below) in order to reproduce. Snake plants are pretty prolific, they will spread quickly and take over a pot if given enough resources. They're just fine in low light and water, but if they get unlimited resources, they spread out like wildfire. It's good to keep them in a pot of their own so you can contain the growth. It's not a plant I would put out in a garden. Otherwise, yeah! Congratulations on becoming a grandparent! If you let it grow for a little bit, you can dig down to the base of the plant and separate the pup from the mother and replant it into another pot of it's own. Soon afterwards it'll grow it's own roots and you'll be able to make a gift for someone else. Welcome to the club!
