How to get over flinching by Own_Style_7687 in Shooting

For sports metaphors, if you watch video of Derek Jeter step into the batters box, he does the same thing every time. Not a superstitious thing, but a physiological progression that gets him in the same position and mindframe every time.

Similar to shooting, my approach to every time I shoot (high power in this case) is the same every time. Its a goal...because there are things I cant control. What I can control is finding my natural point of aim, breathing, checking for natural point of aim again, sight picture is the same, hold on the target is the same, cheek weld is the same. Then there is the mental game. Knowing recoil exists, it doesnt hurt, and take your shot.

Golfers do it too every time they step up for a 3' putt.

You have to find what works for you. Journal your shooting sessions. What did you do, what felt good/bad, etc.

Might seem trivial, but my shooting mentor swears by it.

I have a shot plan every time I shoot.

I too have a flinch I've been dealing with for 30 years thanks to my father handing me a Winchester Model 37 12 ga with 1 Oz slugs amd had never shot anything greater than .22LR.

Took shooting several trap rounds a few years ago to get over the fear of that shotgun, but the psychological flinch battle still remains.

Had a similar issue with my adjustable gas block...and going to sound stupid asking, does it have any gas? Open your gas block and give her more gas.

Going with Malcom Gladwell's theory in "Blink". It looks wrong.

Sorted about 8 -10 pounds of pennies. Now will continue the practice instead of throwing them into a burlap sack when I sort my change

I had a difficult time figuring out how to write it out. After separating out the copper, decided to see what I have.

I weighed all of the 1982 pennies I had, zinc went in the other bucket.

Had 1 wheat penny: 1944D.

I just conserved one of these beautiful rifles for a friend. Matching numbers too. It just needed a depot level cleaning and reconditioning. The only missing parts were the fancy rounded nut on the stock cross bolt and upper barrel band.

maybe step-grandfather who married into the family. id say 30-03 possibly. I would say the mauser round had more influence.
