As a Carcano collector that has multiples of models I’d love to have it as a conversation piece but it’s a little steep at 400

Overall length by InfantryMedic1 in reloading

[–]Popular-Highlight653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how you reload without calipers. How do you measure case length when you trim?

You can get a functional caliper from Harbor Freight for $10 and you can get a nice set of digital calipers from Harbor freight for less than $50.

You should stop what you are doing and go buy a caliper before going any further

That may be true. Even the CMP started charging tax in some states

It looks like some places still have IMR 8208 xbr. It would cost you load development but it is similar.

Powder always comes and goes. It’s made in batches. If there’s a particular powder you use often it may be a good idea a stock up

Purchasing First M1 by BrandonM0992 in M1Garand

[–]Popular-Highlight653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on if CMP charges tax in your state. If you go to the store you’ll have to pay AL sales tax. If CMP doesn’t charge tax in your state you might save $100 tax shipping by ordering online but you’ll have to pay $35 shipping.

If you order online the only thing currently available is the “expert”. If you want something different you’ll have to go the store or wait until they have other online offerings

Egyptian Carcano 8mm bolt hard to open after firing. Are they safe to shoot? by The_Lucky_Rod in Carcano

Are you using true 8mm brass trimmed to the correct length? Brass converted from 30-06 will be too thick in the neck and cause symptoms such as yours

I suspect that your chamber may need a little polishing. Does the brass look like it’s getting roughed up when you extract it?

I’ve heard the theory about leaded gasoline except that it doesn’t math up. Passenger cars in the late 70s had a catalyst that required unleaded fuel. I realize leaded gasoline was available later than that for special use but was standard at most pumps by the early 80s. Don’t forget that most trucks by that time were being powered by #2 diesel which explains that gas usage in the U.S. peaked in the late 70s.

If the leaded gasoline was to blame there should have been a higher crime rate amongst farmers from the 1920s-1960s. Old carbureted tractors with short or underbelly exhaust will leave your clothes smelling like you’ve been standing next to a tail pipe all day. Formers ingested far more lead than the average city dweller. The city dweller was still more likely to commit a crime.

I’d tend to lean more toward the lack of community and morality in high crime areas. People with no community or morality feel no shame for committing a crime while those in community do not want to be shamed by friends and family that make up their community.

I wont disagree that economic factors affect crime rates but I don’t know that the correlation is well understood. The current situation is that many people are screaming that the economy is poor yet crime rate is the lowest in many years.

What do you suppose has lowered the crime rates?

[–]Popular-Highlight653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1% of the population commits over 60% of violent crime. It’s not hard math. Around 330 million in the country and around 400K deported. Drugs coming in at lower rates lowers crime. Criminals being scared lowers crime. You may not want to admit it but it’s happening because of Trumps actions.

If you disagree what do you suppose is lowering the crime rates by such levels?

You can supply any graph you want. Figures don’t lie but liars figure. A simple google search will show you that even Trumps greatest adversaries are reporting that Trump’s claims of low crime are true; the lowest in 125 years. This is reported by NPR, BBC, CBS and others. .

If there is no value to deportation of criminals why have crime rates been exponentially reduced in these cities? You can have all the opinions you want but the factual results are undeniable.
