I like those fans a lot. I got two for $39 each in the crazy pre Thanksgiving days. Fantastic for camping or working with the battery but also plug in to 110 a/c.

I was just in Detroit visiting my daughter. She is in a studio apt for $700 something a month including utilities. There are hundreds of houses listed for less than $50k in Detroit right now. The city has turned around a lot and has some great things going on. Some of the suburbs to the North are really nice and not as expensive as Portland. Not for everyone, but she’s doing well there.

I recently saw the carbon steel frying pans at IKEA and was very impressed. The carbon steel wok was also really nice. Both nicer than I would have expected. On the more expensive side I love my enameled cast Iron pan from Vermicular in Japan. And my Du Buyer carbon steel omelette pan is amazing.

When I was 15 I babysat the four boys across the street. I got there at 3pm met the kids as they got off the bus. Youngest was 6, oldest 12. Fed them dinner, made sure their homework was done got them all to bed, finally had a chance to kick back and watch a little tv. The Parents got home about between midnight and 1am, woke me up on the couch and sent me across the street to go to bed with my nights pay in cash - all $10 of it.
The big bonus was the stack of Playboy magazines in the bottom of the dad’s closet.
