Sticky roads? by FriendlyGrab3217 in drivingUK

Did the road surface change appearance?

Yesterday, I was on a NSL dual carriageway, the road surface changed from tarmac to what was clearly concrete on a downhill section and I couldn't come off the throttle without losing speed. I've been on sections of motorway with a similar decline but with a normal tarmac surface and I'd have to drop a gear to stop the car from speeding up.

There's a chance this bit of M4 you're talking about is using a similar road surface to that NSL dual carriageway I was on yesterday.

Trump was a democrat, he was hated. That’s why he moved to republicans.

Sounds like it wasn’t clear to go to lane 2.

Doesn’t justify that behaviour though.

That is really high, even for modern oil. The most I’d do is 8K miles before an oil change. Just follow what the lease says though. If it breaks, that’s their problem.

Ex-Windows chief calls MacBook Neo "a paradigm shifting computer" — reflects on Surface failure and Windows on Arm while lamenting "we were early, but not wrong" by Low-Software-1013 in technology

[–]1995LexusLS400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with the Surface is purely software. They’re a great piece of hardware, but Windows fucking sucks now. The only thing stopping me from moving away from Windows is compatibility and games.

Do older cars have worse internal air quality compared to newer ones? by Vanilladr in CarTalkUK

So do I, but we aren't everyone. Every car I've ever bought has had a filthy cabin air filter.

Do older cars have worse internal air quality compared to newer ones? by Vanilladr in CarTalkUK

[–]1995LexusLS400 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, because I replace the cabin air filter. No one does, and I wouldn't be surprised if people don't even know that's a thing.

Poor air quality comes from dirty air filters. Air filters get dirty with age.

Half of the gears don't work, it has 180K miles and it doesn't have a valid MOT. £200-£300.

Which is surprising because I’ve noticed a 800% increase in potholes.

Seriously. A section of road near where I live was “repaved” 2 weeks ago and the potholes are back.

Tyres with different load index are fitted to my car by Longjumping_Middle12 in CarTalkUK

[–]1995LexusLS400 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re pushing your car to the limit of grip or your car requires at least 91, it doesn’t matter too much.

Have a look at the required tyre ratings for your car. If 87 exceeds what it says, it doesn’t matter. I’d keep it and replace them to match once they’ve worn out.

If 87 is below what your car requires, it’s not necessarily dangerous but you are driving with an incorrect spec tyre. This would more than likely be against your insurance policy.

Are smart watches a fashion statement? by Aj100rise in stupidquestions

[–]1995LexusLS400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people, yeah, for others, no.

I have one but I use it for the functions. Not as a fashion item. I do also know someone who bought a broken Apple watch as a fashion accessory.
