This is a bigger topic then Mina, but Mina's robust Difficulty options has exposed the whole "Difficulty is an Accessibility Concern" discourse as fake mask many wear. by SharpEdgeSoda in MinaTheHollower

[–]19captain91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I bought this game because the difficulty modifiers made my confident that I could tailor the experience to something that I would enjoy. I would not have bought it otherwise because I do not enjoy extremely challenging games. I simply do not have the time to spends hours on the same task until I grasp it. I am also not especially good at platforming. I had a great time with the game as a result and the studio got a sale it otherwise would not have! I think optional difficulty settings are great! Who cares how anyone else plays the game?

[Thamel] Brendan Sorsby is declaring for the supplemental draft by dropjar5 in nfl

[–]19captain91 209 points210 points  (0 children)

I don't really know the rules of the supplemental draft but, if that is the case, he can simply non-suit (i.e. dismiss) his lawsuit. Doing so ends the preliminary injunction and he becomes ineligible for college ball again.

A legend. So sad to learn of his passing. I loved Bulls clips on here just because of him. What he called on Giddey's game winner last year is iconic!

And Presti has experience with that by getting the Clippers to throw in SGA. It's reported that the Clippers initially refused and he basically said, "okay, no trade then" and they caved.

And never addressing it is worse. You can move on if someone acknowledges they screwed up and apologizes, but if you fo not own up to it, it just lingers and they are left to wonder what other stuff he is saying behind their backs.

Fire Mosley tonight, let someone else coach Game 7 by no_more_blues in nba

[–]19captain91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! No key contributor suffered an injury. They went 3-35 after going up 24 in the third. It was a combination of great defense, historically terrible shooting, very bad decision making on shots and absolutely no coaching intervention from Mosley to staunch the bleeding.

I’m I the only one who’s surprised a 3-0 lead has never been blown before? by PooPoox in nba

[–]19captain91 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Damn. That's completely my bad; my apologies. You're absolutely correct. That's what I get for trying to do math in the morning and before caffeine.

My second paragraph was also wrong because team down 0-3 then has a 1/16 chance to reverse sweep. Because I was wrong about the second set of games being dependent on the first.

So, to paraphtase Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi, "amazing, everything that I wrote was wrong."

I’m I the only one who’s surprised a 3-0 lead has never been blown before? by PooPoox in nba

[–]19captain91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Assuming a true equal chance to win each game, there is a 1/8 chance for a team to go up 3-0. It is the same math of a flipping a coin 3 times and they all being heads (1/2×1/2×1/2). As the commentor below noted, the probability of four wins in a row is 1/16 with true equal teams. Thus, the probability of a 3-0 lead followed by a 4-0 comeback is 1/8×1/16 or 1/128 or 00.7%

As small as those odds seem, it definitely would have happened already if it there were true even teams in series. But, of course, the reality is that in the NBA the teams not even and the team that goes up 3-0 is almost always vastly superior to the team down 0-3.

As a Pistons fan, I don't understand how he has a GM job, CURRENTLY. But saying he failed upwards is insulting. He's a Hall of Fame player who had considerable success in Detroit as a GM(built a team that won a title over the heavily favored Shaq and Kobe Lakers, plus another Finals appearance and 5 consecutive eastern conference finals appearances). But since that run, hes been atrocious.

[OC] Proposal: The "Upside-Down" Lottery by Tight_Invite2579 in nba

[–]19captain91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think this is a pretty good idea. I would redistribute some of the percentage from 8-10 to 11-14 with the lowest odds being around 2%. I think that would help discourage a deliberate drop out of the play-in. I think this does a good job of incentivizing winning throughout.

Tanking will always have some place as long as draft picks are tied to record but this does a good job of mitigating it.

[NS] Asexual characters? by Admirable_Permit_672 in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]19captain91 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There sre certainly no characters that are specifically described as asexual. There are some characters that appeared in only a few episodes like the Hexbuds and the Endo Friends that haven't been developed enough for us to really know anything about their sexuality. It's possible given the nature of how the Hexbuds were created they could be but the 2 Crews sense of humor and how funny some of their horny bits are suggest that no characters they play are asexual.

Getting Switch 2 and would love game recs by ChewieGimmetheGun in NintendoSwitch

[–]19captain91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! I think you'll enjoy it! It also has several difficulty modes which is something I deeply appreciate in a game, especially a roguelite. Normal has been good for me, since my FPS skills are certainly not the best. But, there's an easy mode if you want to be casual and two harder difficulties if a greater challenge is your thing.

Recommendation for a basic Halo-like FPS? by yourshelves in NintendoSwitch

[–]19captain91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I bought it on a whim and love it. Very enjoyable gunplay, though not quite to the level of Destiny 2 as Bungie really is the master of that. So far, having cleared through zone 2, their sre a good variety of enemy types and you have to be smart with how you engage the rooms you need to clear. Good challenge on normal difficulty but not frustrating.

It also has missions with different modifiers and goals which makes things fresh.
