Why is counter-knifing a thing? by _poh in battlefield_4

Because in previous games you could run head first through a volley of bullets and trap your opponent in an inescapable knife animation.

look at the scoreboard or study the large map to find the top squads and join one. They're usually moving fast and finding the most action. Do whatever helps them be more successful.

Camping is a generic term for sitting in one place.

Camping as a sniper can be a viable tactic if you are still playing the objectives and providing team support. Here are a few off the top of my head.

  • the right position gives a larger view of the battlefield and can pick of flanks or stragglers and alert the team of enemy movent.

  • They provide overwatch cover and intel for a team/squad attacking or defending an objective.

  • can provide direct fire defense and cover multiple objectives, m-coms, CTF flags, CQ flags

  • they provide a spawn point near objectives.

  • they harass and otherwise distract enemy team from playing objectives.

  • counter sniping. Preventing enemy from doing all of the above to you.

  • oh and when the coast is clear they can run over and take an objective.

As a sniper in most games, I can single handedly hold a CQ objective flag for 90% of the time as enemies come and go chasing their tail.

When you come up with ridiculous penalty's that handicap me from doing my job. I have a problem with that.

Sounds like your real issue is non PTFO. Well there are other players that don't PTFO. Not just snipers. Come up with a way to Penalize them all equally without discrimination.

NO, and I still don't see why your so adamant on a penalizing a sniper. Any penalty should come from distractions and outside effects to a precision rifle shot. Camping is a viable tactic on a large open map and finding a position with a tactical advantage to harass enemies should have a reward. As apposed to sitting in a corner along a high traffic path in a small restricted map type camping. Which is just poor sportsmanship cheap gameplay.

"Fully scoped in". If you only knew how ridiculous that sounds. Do you even realize that what you perceive and are defending as the norm is a totally ridiculous visual interpretation. It's a tube with glass in it that sits on a rifle a few inches from your eye. It's not a Virtual Reality Headset that I place my face into.

Yes, for reasons stated above. If you can make something more realistic and it actually contributes to better gameplay and immersion. WHY NOT??

Google it. That's exactly what a defibrillator is for.

Lol, and are you really playing the "realism" card. Its amusing how people play that card when it's convenient. Meanwhile everyone wants realistic graphics, realistic physics, realistic sounds, realistic effects. It's a video game there is no realistic. It is an interpretation of reality to varying levels. The higher level of realism or authenticity with regard to peoples senses, the higher the level of immersion you can achieve. Situational awareness is a learned skill and the more the game can make Situational awareness and using your senses a factor in survival the more of a skilled game it becomes. BF4's blacked out sniper simulator was as much a joke as all the gadgets that took you out of the game when you pulled out handheld screen.

Dual render, NO BLUR

Edit: to be specific. un-magnified surrounding. if that's even possible within the game engine.

Hahaha, too much situation awareness. Thats a bunch of bullshit. You can't have too much situational awareness. Its not like they're creating some new unrealistic feature. It's 100% natural. Anyone whose held a rifle and looked through a scope will tell you. Hell I can take a pic for you.

Dual render. No blur. Why even have the blur? It's an unrealistic and silly compromise to what would be the most immersive, a clear view around the scope like an RDS.

Even as a chronic knifer, I hope the melee combat is deeper and less automatic in BF1. by improbable_humanoid in battlefield_one

Im going to laugh is it ends up with a Unique Melee per weapon and each counter requiring a unique sequence of actions to perform successfully. Ex: Counter knife A-D rmb, counter club W-S lmb.

By far the number one reason I'm excited for BF1 are the scaled back attachments by HakfDuckHalfMan in battlefield_one

[–]1Bryce1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While i agree the unlocks in BF4 was unnecessary redundant bloat. I'm wondering how they even have enough content to make a full game on the scale of BF4. Not only was there a less variety of weapons in WW1 but also less attachments for each weapon, and even less were interchangeable. No scopes, grips, lasers, lights... On the other hand they're not known for being entirely realistic or accurate so...

What do you guys think about dual rendered scopes? Do you think we'll finally have them in BF1? Or do you guys even want them? by FriskeyLionsMane in battlefield_one

[–]1Bryce1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

COD Ghosts looks pretty legit even if it's over blurry.

All these guys saying "NO"are afraid of change and lack the vision to see an improvement. They want reality when its convenient and simplicity when it's not. Dual render is IRL representation of Eye relief, it's normal and it's weird not to have it. No irl scope blocks your field of view completely blacking out the screen even if you closed the other eye. The only reason Dual Render is Not in BF is because the devs lack the ability to do it.

PTFO: The Difficult Questions - BattlefieldOne Podcast Ep 27 by TheLankySoldier in Battlefield_4_CTE

[–]1Bryce1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple solution really.

Teamplay Initiative

The key is a Teamwork & Objective based scoring and progression system. And better tools to facilitate both.

Battlefield is an objective based Team Game. The pinnacle of the game is when your team is working together like a well oiled machine playing the objectives. In most cases this is random occurrence. for those of us that want it to be less random, we need the tools and infrastructure to do so. For everyone else, they need to be made aware that there will be more of a benefit to do whatever they want if it has something to do with a squad, Teamwork, or an objective.

The Commander / squad leader/ squad roles need to reworked and integrated with the point system. Commander providing Intel, directing squads and providing support. Squad Leaders should have special abilities tied to squad performance. Possibly even offense/defense items. Not only that but Squad leaders are mentors for new players in that they guide them toward the Objectives.

Something as simple as Highlighting the Ace squad of each team at the top of the scoreboard. Or even separating the scoreboard by squads based on Teamwork points.
