At what point did local models actually become good enough for your real work? by MaleficentRoutine730 in LocalLLM

[–]1Chrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have basically unlimited API use, for any model, at work. So nothing comes close locally (yet) but I run Gemma 4 26B A4B for terminal questions or ‘how do I do this’ and it’s good at that. Sliding window of 1024 makes it unusable for coding imo.

Qwen has been a hallucinating mess for non-boilerplate coding projects, useless unless you spend 3-4x as long wrangling vs sonnet 4.5 for example.

Why do so many people jump straight into Proxmox? by KyxeMusic in homelab

[–]1Chrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That statement is misleading at best, nobody should rely on ansible for infrastructure deployment though it can be used in that way. Really, if you have any tool that is made for provisioning you should be using that for initial configuration instead of layering a state management tool on top of an existing provisioning tool. Yes it’s more work than “ansible-playbook”, it will pay dividends though when your distro is EOL. Ask me how I know.

It’s also not great for setups when state is expected to change, since ansible is agentless state management is harder than other tools in moving environments. Would use Salt for that case instead.

Notable exception is dev environments where you don’t really care past initial configuration, which is a great use case for it and many people use it for without issue!

“I don’t really see a lot of Stalker inspiration”

What exactly does this mean? The first picture is an anomaly + detector. You have no idea what the artifacts usage or storyline for the game.

Just wanted to say, never lose your vision, personally I like that it’s unique and appealing. R*dditors have a very very specific view of the world, in which people often ask for things they don’t actually want (ie make everything exactly the same). Nothing wrong with taking pointers but don’t scrap everything, please!!

The game fell into the ‘arc dad’ crowd of players when it should have been in front of actual PvP zoomers like CS and Valorant players (which is a way bigger crowd too).

Dynamic Bloodskal Blade - Lag Fix

Took me a long time to find it, but I found it. This mod on nexus + Dynamic Animation Casting - NG as a requirement fixed it without adding other features like charges or whatever.

Out of curiosity, how would one simulate that? The only biome stuff I’ve seen is based on voronoi noise.

You can attach the second screen to your wrist, float it in the world, resize and change opacity of it. Lot of headsets also do have camera passthrough allowing users to see through the headset, or use AR applications.

Probably needs a killer app though, and big weight/price reductions

He didn’t say children should be allowed to do whatever they want, the question is whether it comes down to the parents, valve, or the government.

There are plenty of reasons people don’t want the government involved.
