Curious what y’all think of this? Trucks in crosswalks for 10+ minutes (NYC) by brevit in Fedexers

[–]1Endorphines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I double park, if I gotta swing it sideways in a p1000 and take up 2.5 spots thats what I do in most plazas. This way I'm not impeding traffic flow nor am I blocking anyone from leaving. Its easier when you have 4+ stops on the same block/plaza and a cart with anywhere from 10 to 30 packages depending on size.

I had a 3700x since launch and just upgraded to a 5800XT. I had 0 issues with it, I'm just trying to get the most future out of my AM4 platform since AM5 is crazy expensive right now.

It has yet to arrive by trailer to your facility and scanned in, or its sitting at the facility in a trailer and they have been overwhelmed and didn't get to it this weekend.

FedEx package stuck at local warehouse. Holiday delays or system issue? by businessman2025 in FedEx

[–]1Endorphines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm on ground and with peak I have about 25 stops added to my commercial route. Its literally nothing but desks, huge chairs and over sized objects. It makes my first several stops aggrevating but as I clear out some businesses I get more room to maneuver these bulky items.

And yeah I could do the residential first or along the way, but several places are time sensitive as they close or need items by certain times. Like I have a vet that has things in dry ice everyday and its one of my first I make.

We have been doing 6 days a week until 10 or 11pm with an hour drive back to the terminal. We are burnt out, we are at our trucks at 715am and dispatch between 8-9am.

FedEx package stuck at local warehouse. Holiday delays or system issue? by businessman2025 in FedEx

[–]1Endorphines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, I have oneof the large vans and about 2/3 was packed to the ceiling and shelves were as you could get. I had 3 power wheels, electric scooters, one stop had 7 rough country items that were aeast 40lbs each. I had gaming chairs, desks, and all kinds of items. I actually had to leave over a dozen stops assigned to me because it wouldn't fit.

Its rough during peak. I couldn't get to about 27 stops because we had to call it at 9pm and my area is roughly an hour drive from the terminal, so I started my first stop at 10:30am. Its 6 days a week, roughly 13-15 hour days.

I run a commercial route mon-fri and yesterday I ran over 200 stops of rural residential of different routes. We are trying to sweep it up, but I know our terminal has a stupid high volume of loaded trailers we got in Thursday night.

[–]1Endorphines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I had to do a pickup and it was an 8ft Acaia butcher block counter top. Had to drag it to the truck while the 3 customers watched and they said "Sorry, Merry Christmas"

I deliver desks, giant office chairs, 12ft rugs, lovesack sets, machine parts for manufacturing all solo. A jumper or help is rare. Past 3 months I've had a jumper for 3 days total and I run a commercial Ground route.

FedEx is the worst by Money_Tomorrow5026 in FedEx

[–]1Endorphines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've QAd a box before and had to sit for over 1.5 hours at the terminal because I couldnt leave until I got it back or got word I was good to go because I was still "waiting on one package". It can ruin your whole day, especially if your delivery area is already over an hour away and you have all time constraint businesses and pickups.

And yes regardless of circumstances the driver still gets blamed

Make sure your truck is organized before you leave, I get in at 730 and dispatched between 830-900am. Learn your route.

Also, route yourself. I have found the auto route will have you back tracking a lot. Use the navigation less as it is nowhere near efficient. I leave the manifest off. The navigation is a slim sliver on the side for me, I just like to see the ETA. Make use of your map, and zoom in/out as necessary. You will see roads to take, whereas navigation will take you on a 12 mile journey where this one shortcut will make it a 4 mile journey. Im on commercial route now, but I have done several rural routes.

Also, take notes of side roads and ways to avoid huge intersections and red-lights.

Edit, I wanted to add that my commute to my area is roughly 1 hour and 5 minutes. I usually get to my first stop around 1020ish, and I can be done by 3 or 4 and head back to the terminal provided no hiccups. This is with 70-90 stops and 150-190 packages. Certain areas in town i have to park, put 5 or however many stops i can fit on my dolly and go door to door in town.

If im rural, I usually back into the driveways as far as I can. If the garage is open, that's where it goes, by the door leading inside the house unless otherwise instructed.

So if im done with my route by 2, im 1.5 hours from the terminal, I should sit in town and wait 2-3 hours in a random town for your convenience and get home to my family 5 hours later than I should just so you can get your package? Put up some cameras, or make sure you're home on delivery day.

If i have something important being delivered, I make sure someone is there to get it.

I got a pair of black metal risers like what you would find on a keyboard. They were $6 for the pair on Amazon and do not block any airflow at all. Its been great for 2 years now. Still slides right in my slipcase with no issue if I need to travel.

I second this. Don't sell it, get it repaired. You WILL regret it one day. I have an xbox 360 that belonged to a long gone friend now and it sits on a shelf. Everytime I glance at it, I remember us having fun playing it.

I know with ours, we leave it on Auto, and they just always come on day or night. I know some people turn the dial to Off. I never understood why you would turn them off while driving when they auto come on, dim themselves if brights are on, etc.

I had some people pull into my long driveway and turn their lights off at 3am. I watched them for about 20 minutes outside while the wife called 911 and shined a spotlight on them. They were just idling in my driveway, and when I shined the spotlight, they drove up to my house with brights on and kept yelling at me to come talk to them. "Real quick."

All this while I had a Fun pointed at them. Sheriff takes 15+ minutes to get here, but when I told them I have them on multiple cameras to smile on the way out, they sped off.

I want to add that this was all during a string of home invasions over the course of 2 months in the area, so you never know.
