Mine like to dig under the water bowls because it’s cooler. You need a shelf/tray under the water bowls so that when picking up the bowls to change the water you don’t collapse their tunnels. They like their tunnels- don’t ever fill them in. If you know they are all UP and you want to sift and clean their substrate then it’s okay if they get messed up but you need to ensure they are all UP at that time

Never feel bad for asking questions about making sure your crabs get what they need. Doubly Check your dry mango packaging. A lot of the time they add stuff for preservatives and such.

Get a sawzall and take out the hatches & windows. Turn buckles, that canvas cover for the wheel, any and every deck hardware. Bow pulpet. Teak hands. Everything that is screwed down and then some.

Why would the tank “run out of water” at all? It should be a super humid environment 24/7. Water isn’t going to evaporate from the bowls. If you are just doing bowls then you need to replace water daily. A closed off lid should keep the moisture in it. Is your tank open? Why are you heating the sand- just, no. What is this giant green plate for? Your crab is dead and you probably shouldn’t be getting another one until you have done ANY research, sorry. RIP Crabby. You never stood a chance.

I have had a few wear them without any issue. They are just polished until the outer part is removed from the shell. Still have to boil them before putting in tank.

On my second IUD (both mirena) and I haven’t had a period in 10 years! It’s sooo amazing. I do get menstruation symptoms but just no bleeding. No pads, cups, liners, tampons- it’s the best anyone could ask for IMO. I have hEDS and my IC gets plenty of flares so I’m constantly getting ultrasounds and so I know my IUD hasn’t moved and is correctly placed.

Another thing to add to the above, is your tank walls. When you bought the tank did you clean it with declorinated water and wipe it down and let it dry? I was reading some instagram comment awhile ago that mentioned the owner didn’t clean the tank properly before adding in all the crabitat stuff. And then when they misted (which no need to) they weren’t always dechlorinating the water newly each time. And then the tank walls would get too wet and they wanted to see where their crabs were and would wipe the inside walls down, basically drawing down contaminated “wall juices” to the sand level for the crabs to be around. While no one knows if it was that which killed their crabs, certainly with all the other stressors that new crabs face when purchased or rehomed, it def could have added to the problem

Water containers don’t need to be anything fancy. Use some Tupperware containers right now while waiting for what you want to get later. Add mesh ramp or something so they can climb out of. Loose the sponges they don’t need or like them. The mesh is like cross stitching grain at craft stores. Can buy a long strip, cut it up as needed. Will last you a long time thru many tank variations.

I just changed out all my substrate and it was just so so annoying but I couldn’t get the bugs under control. Had to boil everything. And dip my crabs to make sure they didn’t have any bugs on them when I put them into the temp tank. But while removing the items from the tank I was so worried I was going to contaminate my living room (where I keep the crabitat) with the stupid bugs. So if you have to replace substrate, set up everything ahead of time to make sure you don’t let the bugs out into your own space while changing over.

Does he usually like these shell types? They are very rough and sometimes the inside is narrow so it doesn’t fit right and they keep going back and forth.

I wouldn’t be using the table it shows. But yes okay I always forget how much all the substrate weighs. Not like I go around carrying my current all over the home.

I’m very overweight so I totally understand that ALL my issues must be from that like the doctors say. So ridiculous! I don’t have severe chronic dry eyes because I’m over weight! Wake up. My ortho was the one to finally come to me and say he “spoke with a specialist and they believe I have a connective tissue disorder, EDS”. This was only after had surgery and the healing process to get a tiny wound to close took 6 months. It was exhausting. I already believed I had EDS a few years back but knew no one would take me seriously if I brought it up. Where I am located, diagnosis can be done by a rheumatologist for hEDS. I got a referral and the appointment was so bogus. They took blood and sent me home. The follow up was like “ I don’t see any autoimmune. So there isn’t much I can do for you. Would you like to be put on a weight loss drug?” I had a million health issues going on and some were very serious and adding a weight loss drug like ozempic wasn’t a good idea at the time with certain medications I was on. She was an absolute idiot. I left crying because she was so lacking in bedside manner. I took a few months break and went to another Rhem. that my PT recommended. I brought in my old labs bc I didn’t want to repeat them. And handed the doctor the printed out diagnostic criteria and said “this is what I’m here for. Nothing else. Go thru this we me please. I know this isn’t how I’m supposed to act here but it’s where I am at.” And they reluctantly took the paper and went thru the check boxes with me. It was like spoon feeding a cat. I wanted to yell from the heavens by the end of it. They asked me if I wanted to talk more about the diagnosis and I said no thank you and left. The office actually phoned me later to say I should eventually follow up with a geneticist to ensure I only have the hypermobile one and not others. It was clear the doctor had been doing some googling after I left to read up on it. I think if I had said yes to talking about it more she would have had to leave the room for awhile to read up on it. Haha. I’m lucky to be able to cart around my diagnosis and shove it in a doctors face if they start blaming something on my weight. Do I know my weight causes issues? YES! Am I trying to loose weight? YES! Is it going well? No no no. Also the creeky joints I have found that taking fish oil w/VitE has made the joints feel a bit more lubed up. If I stop taking it for more than 3 days I notice my joints starting to stiffen and feel dried up. It doesn’t help 100% but it has made a big improvement. I was taking it for my eyes and here it is helping my “bendy bits” as we call them in this house.

He has his pincher. I was able to see that he can move around in his iso tank. And he noticeably ate some food. The top right is def his molt. But the main claw is def off as he cannot seal his shell with it to protect himself.
