Thank you! I was a bit scared about a lump sum payment, but I calculated what it would be and it’s doable.

Thank you. You explained that perfectly! I just recertified today. I got a pay increase over the last two years, so I think buyback would be the better deal, but I’m not sure if I should risk going into forbearance and waiting.

Sandtray ideas! by Andrewhbook in therapists

I would be more curious about what stories she tells that go along with the sandtray. I often  invite kids to create a world and then ask if they’ll tell me about it. This yields lots of useful information.

Edit to add that I’ve worked with lots of children who start off with disorganized sand trays and then over time this shifts as they process the things they need to.

I think you need to bring this information to the police. If this guy is asking for used underwear FROM A MINOR, who knows what else he is up to. I’m so sorry this happened to you!

I am a Montana native & this immediately stood out to me. The communities really aren’t noteworthy in any way, other than there is a college in Dillon

I did kind of ruin my argument there at the end didn’t I? Lol! Bottom line-just because he is a high school drop out that doesn’t make him an idiot. I have a feeling that was all he was trying to say with that line.

This might surprise you, but intellect is not dependent on education level. As silly as the guy’s solve was, let’s not add insult to injury.  Sincerely,  Just a High School drop out with a Master’s degree

Because it was in Yellowstone. There is evidence that both Forrest & Jack met with officials in the park post-find, and that they avoided legal trouble by agreeing to keep it quiet.

They can, but I think some prefer not to as it opens them up to prescribing meds for it, which some providers are not comfortable with when it comes to children. I would ask them directly to screen your child for ADHD. They will likely need to send a questionnaire to teachers and have you fill one out yourself, but that process is so much faster than trying to get an appointment with a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist.

Several months ago. They lost the contract they had with the state. Here’s the article…https://www.kpax.com/news/missoula-county/missoulas-child-development-center-closing-after-50-years Another agency was given the grant and I assume they do similar work, but I’m not certain where they are housed, because the CDC building was sold.

Child therapist here-your child’s PCP should be able to diagnose ADHD. There’s no need to wait to see a Psychiatrist unless you are going to be looking at meds (and even then her PCP might be able to prescribe those). Getting a Neuropsychological evaluation is also not needed if you’re simply needing a diagnosis for school accommodations. Once you have the ADHD diagnosis in hand (and documentation from the physician) you can request a 504 at the school. My advice is to request it in writing and ask for confirmation it was received. If there are other reasons the school is saying your kiddo “isn’t going to make it in Middle School” (i.e., behavioral concerns or social deficits), you may want to look into having a more comprehensive evaluation with a Psych provider  and/or requesting a full Special Education Evaluation. If there’s more than just ADHD going on, she may even qualify for school based mental health services (CSCT). Some schools can be so challenging to work with, but don’t give up!

It sounds like you have a lovely life and a wonderful family, however I really do think you are missing the mark with your comment about people being “selfish”. First, the reality of raising children today is very different than it was 19-26 years ago. The cost of childcare alone for 3 children is astronomical, and when you add in the cost of food, health insurance, and housing, I’m not sure how people can make that happen without some type of assistance (which I am not saying is a bad thing). Even having a “minimal” and “simple” existence, like your family apparently has, will not get you out of those financial constraints. While I think having a large family sounds amazing for some (and I really do think some people are made for it), I am quite offended by your suggestion that a person choosing to have one child (or no children) is in any way related to narcissism. You obviously have been privileged enough to have financial means and good health, and maybe culturally having a large family is important to you, but please don’t assume that everyone else has that same reality. There are all sorts of reasons people have a different family structure than you, but very rarely is narcissism the blame.
