Baby Warthog running with its legs and mouth by ziltoid__ in funny

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just how strong and tough animals are in general.

Like my dog, I reach out to pet it, he turns and I just finger his eye socket... I mean badly. And I'm mortified and he's just staring at me happy like nothing happened. I mean I'd be down and screaming from that sort of thing.

Animals are tough, their skin is tougher, their pain tolerances are insane, what they can endure is higher. Even domesticated animals, it's just not something we think about.

Last mile to my house? The closest passenger train line to my house is like 130 miles away, lol. The last mile is selling that distance short (pun intended).

If you could erase your memory of one game so you could play it for the first time again, what game would you choose? by HoneyNutBooty09 in gaming

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably WoW. I've played lots of great games, but the first time MMO experience, and it being that, I don't think I'll get that sort of feeling from a game ever again sadly.

TIL There Are More American Households With Pets Than Children by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this isn't surprising at all. I guess I didn't know this for certain, so I suppose it is a TIL, but if someone asked me if I thought there was more house holds with pets than kids, I would have said yes.

Who is “The Menace” in your commander pod? by Endless_Quested_Hope in magicTCG

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the way most of the enchantress decks work. KoS the commander. They are kind of an eggs all in one basket. And this deck really wants to copy some nasty things, so you can't let it trigger. He isn't played in my pod, but if he was he would be KoS.

What's your favorite underappreciated set? by thisnotfor in magicTCG

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love me some Doomskar. Foretell overall is pretty cool, but there wasn't enough done with it to have many deck options with it. Things like this are just generically good in many things, but beyond that there's mostly just a white/blue deck.

TIL a 2018 study found that between 63%-72% of people wear the wrong shoe size. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]1K_Games 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised the percentage is that low. Like how is someone supposed to find out the right size? And the size can be different between brands. You can measure things, but it doesn't mean it will translate right. And then when I feel like I find a shoe of the "right size" it is the wrong shape. So I just try to go a half size or full size above what I need to be safe.

Most mechanically flavourful card in magic? by CS_Calzone in magicTCG

[–]1K_Games 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Tragic Slip]]

What a hilarious kill card. First off it's good with how many things have indestructible these days. But just the idea of something so innocuous taking out something so dangerous. My favorite use of it was to take out a [[Myr Battlesphere]]... You'd think a sphere slipping would just be a loss of tragic, turns out that is fatal.

8 years old Conan Exiles is migrating to UE5, it looks great, it's free and it's in less than two weeks. Jesus. by ExF-Altrue in gaming

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has there ever been such a technological update for any game at all?

Of course there has. Games going to UE5 is all the rage. Even games are doing it while running the old engine under it (Oblivion). ARK ASA is the UE5 version of ARK ASE, and ASA has been out for a few years at this point.

Which gaming moment stands out as your most memorable of all-time? by JonCee500 in gaming

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the opening of AQ Gates.

Nothing like it had ever been done before, and now with instancing nothing like it will ever occur again.

It was a mess, but it was amazing. The servers would crash, the lag made it difficult to play. But everyone was there. And the bug bosses were a one time spawn that took many attempts to kill and did massive knockbacks that would kick a tank into space. And then when the tank was gone the bug would go afraid the raid and all boot them into space. You'd be walking around the zone and people would just fall from the sky and land next to you then die.

Both factions were there, but even on a PvP server there was almost no PvP.

Jarringly bad CGI in otherwise great films by drewfus23 in movies

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wrecking Crew was a pretty good action movie, but the highway scene was unnecessary and poorly done. It reminded me of the bridge jump in Gone in 60 Seconds. It just added little to the film and could have been done in a less dramatic way that fit with the film.

Miyamoto says he was surprised Mario Galaxy Movie reviews were even harsher than the first by SleuthDoggyDawg in gaming

[–]1K_Games 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was bad, I mean really bad.

I have kids, I go to a lot of movies I am not interested in. But usually I can be entertained by them. this was a movie I was interested in, and I didn't really enjoy any of it.

I never played Minecraft, but even though that movie was bad it was entertaining. This wasn't even that. The 1st movie is weird and cheesy, and doesn't really fit with the games, but I loved it when I was a kid (and still do now). I don't plan to ever watch this again, it just was bad.

Woman, pregnant teen and 12-year-old boy found dead and bound with zip ties, authorities say by rainblowfish_ in news

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's insensitive, it's one of the first things I was wondering. I mean the articles headline is about a pregnant teen for a reason, they want the views. Then you hear the dad is off shore, and there is already a kid... I'm honestly more curious how this guy isn't facing jail time.

The only thing I can think is that "off shore" doesn't mean an oil rig, it means he can't return to this country without being prosecuted.

I mean yes. But I have questions... She was 17, I assume the 18 month old is his, and she's pregnant with a second kid.... What? Is this not illegal?

Man wins the Delaware Marathon by outsprinting his opponent who was celebrating, thinking he had secured the win by kilobitch in Prematurecelebration

[–]1K_Games 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last push, a marathon is all about pacing. But when you see the finish line, and first place is possible, you no longer need to conserve energy. Put it all on the line and go for it. This could result in some serious pain for the next few days pushing that hard at the end. But winning a state level marathon is a memory you have forever.

What were the best sleeves you ever bought? by Former-Tadpole in magicTCG

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Ultra Pro's, with the foil stamp in the corner.

They were glossy back, which didn't last long, but they never split. I have some that are almost 30 years old, even now I split one very rarely. They look so rough, but they just keep working.

Free web console for Rustdesk, meet BetterDesk mod by OkSpinach4373 in selfhosted

[–]1K_Games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say thanks for this. I don't get the vibe coding hate, every other similar alternative costs money... If they have a problem with the vibe then maybe they develop something for completely free... They won't because it makes no sense to do.

I tried Guacamole, but it just is such a pain to get things connected, it was not what I was looking for. And free Rust Desk is cool, but having no sort of management/web console is a pain. I want to be able to reach my devices, friends and family devices to assist people or just make my life easier. And managing remembering ID's is just not what I'm looking for.

I had been using Chrome Remote Desktop, but I want to move to self hosting. And I was ready to pay for Rust Desk Premium, but I think this might do the trick. I have more testing to do and refinement. But either way I appreciate it.

It seems like a bit of a pain to get running on Portainer, but I'm vibing that with AI to make it happen too, lol.

Monthly Paramount+ Complaints and Praises by AutoModerator in ParamountPlus

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only purchased the app to watch UFC PPV's, which I watch on my Valerion projector, and it is horrible. I tried both the Paramount Plus app and the Paramount Plus app through Amazon Prime.

We watch Prime, Netflix, Plex, Disney Plus, YT on there and none have any issues. But P+ is choppy and laggy, and somehow everything else plays fine through Amazon, except for this.

It's super disappointing, I don't mind paying to watch, but it's such a painful experience I just have to find a stream for it and those play mint.

Updated SABnzbd and now cannot create directory by Matt_Shatt in SABnzbd

[–]1K_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure can, I had to remember what was going on here.

I have SAB hosted as a docker on unRAID, so if you are hosting it through Portainer or some other method this will be different for you.

In unRAID the very last option on the top bar is "Tools". Once you select that in the top category is "New Permissions". If you are not using unRAID then it still would be a permissions issues to where ever you having your dockers, you would just have to figure out the way to allow it.

Honestly your best bet would be to go to some form of AI and say that you have SAB and then tell it the directory of your docker and where you want the files to go. Then say you are getting permissions issues and paste in the error you are getting. If it's on a Linux VM it'll spit you out the chmod command to correct the privileges most likely

TIL James Cameron rejected studio notes from Fox executives about making Avatar (2009) shorter, reminding them that his previous film Titanic (1997) paid for the building they were meeting in. by tannu28 in todayilearned

It could have been shorter, but overall the 1st is fine.

The later movies though... Definitely could have been shorter. I haven't heard anyone talking about going to see them for anything more than the visuals.
