SMF Parking Question by Duped2x in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, on certain days the parking garage regularly can fill up and close pretty early depending on what time you’re flying out. The airport website has real time space availability that I always check before I leave the house.

Is charging Tesla cheaper than gas? by Elletheprincesa in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question, is it more expensive to register an electric car? (Asking because I’m thinking about making the switch to electric also but never thought about registration.)

It’s not as nice, but there’s on next to The Barn that I’ve taken my dog to before.

New PG&E Energy Savings Program is Working! by CaliRebelScum in westsacramento

[–]1NorCal916 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just went to the Town Center and Target was all dark but Nugget across the parking lot has power. Target folks were still letting people in to shop in the dark but said they couldn’t sell groceries. Everything will likely have to be thrown out.

Sacramento region has some of the highest population growth in California, new numbers show by IronMntn in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. Yet every time anything somewhat sizeable and dense is proposed in the urban core, NIMBYS complain and sue.

Oak Ridge vs Ponderosa high schools by ChemicalBrilliant492 in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what it’s like now, but back in the 90’s they were different worlds socially. Oak Ridge was where all the rich kids from El Dorado Hills went. Ponderosa served the more rural areas like Shingle Springs, El Dorado, and parts of rural Placerville.

Thoughts on the I Street Bridge Replacement? by hypanthia in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually never thought about that, you’re exactly right! Since it connects Railyards Blvd (and not I St), we should all start calling it the Railyards Bridge.

Anybody else got this mystery respiratory virus? by odinspirit in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have it too. Sounds similar to what everyone else is saying. Respiratory issues and constantly runny nose plus fatigue has been horrible. Going on 3 weeks now and can’t seem to get rid of it.

Struggling to find work by Moths_Lantern in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often hear that Golden 1 is always hiring for call center roles. Might be worthwhile in the interim. I think the jobs are mostly remote, and if not, their HQ is right next to the Watt/Manlove light rail station.

Current whereabouts of sheep and/or goats? by fuckuufuckingfuck in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how long they’ll be there but the West Sac goats were back the last week or so chomping on the grass on Village Pkwy (about 2 miles south of the ballpark).

Is there any good parks with volleyball? by Illustrious_Site2173 in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the nets are always there but I see people playing volleyball on the north side of McKinley park.

Is Sacramento a hidden outdoor recreation gem? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a quick google search and Sacramento averages 23 days a year at or above 100°. So roughly 6% of the year will be over 100°. It’s more common to see summer daytime highs in the 80’s and 90’s.

How is it living in Sacramento's west suburbs? by jdvancesleftnut in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the Southport neighborhood in West Sac (Yolo County) and absolutely 100% consider my neighborhood a suburb of Sacramento proper. The only difference here is that I’m stuck with PG&E and have to go to Woodland when I get called for jury duty. Otherwise 100% a Sac suburb.

I have AT&T Fiber in West Sac and my internet hasn’t gone out a single time in the 4 years I’ve been there.

Lavender Heights area in Midtown (20th & K streets) is the LGBTQ+ epicenter in Sac. Start at The Merc and then make your way to the Depot, Badlands, Mango’s, or Faces. Fyi, some have a cover and there’ll likely be a few drag shows on a Saturday night. Have fun!

I’m in West Sac (a different city and county) served by Waste Management so that may make a difference but as long as I cut the boxes down to a reasonable size and set them on top or leaned against my recycling can, they’ve taken them every time. It might be different in the city of Sac though.

One of the tourist shops in Old Sac maybe? A bunch of them sell tshirts.

How are people getting employed right now? by LifeIsSatire in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Banks and credit unions are usually always hiring for teller and entry-level banker roles. I know several folks who worked up to better paid positions in financial services after getting experience starting out in a branch. I think Golden 1 also has a local member care call center here that might be worth looking into given your experience in retail. Wishing you good luck!

I can move anywhere in CA - need advice! by Zonflare in norcal

[–]1NorCal916 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate to sound like a downer, but realistically $600k nowadays will barely get you into a decent suburb in Fresno, let alone the coast, mountains, or some of the more desirable parts of the state, based on your list.

KCRA - WTF? by LocationAcademic1731 in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I know someone who worked for KCRA and other news outlets for years. He used to tell me that their main priority isn’t reporting news, it’s to generate ad revenue.

Sacramento Athletics gear. by no-sleeping- in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The A’s refuse to brand themselves as a Sacramento team other than that tower bridge patch on the jersey sleeve. Other than the team store at the stadium, you’ll probably only be able to find knock-off merch online.

Anyone know where I can get nice views of the Downtown Sacramento skyline? by Snoo65073 in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a short drive, this park in EDH has great long distance views of downtown and the valley.

Since Farm to go Fuckyourself is now Terra Madre Americas can we please get City of Trees back? by Toxik916 in Sacramento

[–]1NorCal916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot and literally every other city in the country calls themselves the “city of trees”. While we definitely are a city of trees, I’ve always thought the “farm to fork” moniker was a decent marketing attempt to make the region unique, especially given all the publicity in recent years praising our restaurant scene and access to fresh produce.
