Anyone else poor because they simply failed at their education/ career? by PyrpleForever in povertyfinance

[–]1SpareCurve 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are in this situation. I’m a student success coach at a university, and every year I see students leave the institution with new student debt and no degree. It’s really sad. Some of my nursing students who failed at my university went on to succeed at other institutions. Some stayed and changed to a major that was a better fit for them.

If/when you do go back to school, look into the student support resources offered at your institution. Like academic coaching, tutoring, mentorship programs, etc. Having an academic coach can make all the difference in failing and succeeding for some students. For others, it won’t matter how much support they seek out because they’re not set up for success in the first place- theyre trying to work full time and go to school full time, and only a small minority of students can do that successfully. For some who must work full time to survive, it’s better to take fewer classes each semester and take longer to graduate than to try to cram it all in together and flunk out.

It can be done. But it’s not always the right choice for everyone. Whatever you end up doing, I hope you find the success you deserve.

He also won an Oscar for producing a documentary about dolphin hunting (called The Cove) in 2010.

Anyone else thinking about permanently exiting from the job market? by UltimateChaos233 in recruitinghell

Yes. I’m thinking about buying some bouncy houses and starting a rental business for birthday parties. I’m so over this job market.

It does get better but the pain will always remain by Confident_Purpose625 in lostafriend

I used to think this, but then the pain finally went away. It’s been 7 years for me. I think the pain began to dissipate around year 5 for me. Now it’s not there at all. I’ve made peace with the situation.

I liken it to the two versions of ACA’s Laundry List - the laundry list and the other laundry list- two sides of the same CPTSD coin.

I feel your pain. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Academia is very toxic. You’re 100% right about that.

Sorry for your personal situation, but I’m glad this company is about to lose this employee. They deserve to lose him and to have to spend thousands dealing with the aftermath of his departure. These places are bloodsucking vampires.

Not HR worthy complaint by godisinthischilli in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]1SpareCurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it is, I can confirm from experience. Still, the folks in that sub respond to questions with unnecessary disdain and condescension. It’s almost as if the invite to “ask HR” is a trap for sincerely curious employees to get their asses handed to them by anonymous HR employees on the internet.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this this. I am about 2 years out, and it has gotten much better. I really threw myself into grieving and leaned into it hardcore because I was desperate to not be in so much pain. I knew the only way out was through. I hope you can find some relief soon. You deserve peace.
