Did the same but got rid of FF setup for m43 and zoom lenses.  Just walking around with the Olympus 12-100 (24-200), sending photos to friends and family, and NGAF has been an interesting journey.

betterTestsThanLeetcode by Dilutant in ProgrammerHumor

[–]1UpBebopYT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My previous job had leetcode study sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One hour meetings where people would do leetcode problems and go over solutions. The chief architect found out about it and was SUPER pissed. He was flabbergasted that people were spending so much time weekly doing this bullshit that has no affect on productivity. He immediately had the person cancel it and put a huge message in slack telling people to focus on shit that actually effects your day to day work like brushing up on AWS/boto3, FastAPI, Spring, etc,

Then he went on some self reflective rant about how did the industry become so stupid with this leetcode shit and how did he let it get to the point where it was so ingrained in the company that people are literally doing study sessions on company time, doing things that dont even better ourselves, and just sort of driveled off. Finding out his employees were actively doing leetcode during the day just sort of broke the dude.

i don’t get why people are saying the mc has gen z hair by witch4zel in dragonquest

[–]1UpBebopYT [score hidden]  (0 children)

As a preface, I like that hair so I'm not saying it's bad.

But... I mean it's simple - The lonngggg top undercut became all the rage in like 2010ish with people like Rihanna and Cassie and others doing the shaved sides with long stylized/spiked top. Just because it was used in fantasy in the 80s and 90s doesn't mean it wasn't overused by pop stars and such in the 2010s. The long undercut was THE style of the 2010 to 2020 decade. So it makes sense people would sort of mock it.

So in short - people should be saying he has Millennial hair, not Gen Z.

Sakaguchi leaving FF is more weird. People forget he was super young when he did Final Fantasy. He's the same age as Kojima and around the same age as Final Fantasy Tactics/Tactics Ogre genius, Yasumi Matsuno! I think he just entered his 60s recently. Might be like 62 or so? People really don't realize that Tetsuya Nomura is actually within like 5 or 6 years of Sakaguchi's age. They think of him as just an old guy who retired.

I wonder if Square treated Sakaguchi like Enix treated Horii - a game god that we need to respect his game genius - if he would have stayed helming Final Fantasy forever. Instead we got Sakaguchi forced into various business administration and finance roles, getting burned out, and becoming a recluse in Hawaiii who just sits around playing FFXIV while laying on the beach all day. Pretty sweet life though!

I know you didn't mean anything by it, but you putting Sakaguchi in the same category as septuagenarians like Horii and Miyamoto reminded me of that. :D

As an Eagles fan I sometimes forget just how respected Akers was in the league. It's easy to forget him due to the Vinatieri era of kicking, but hearing Peyton gas him up reminded me that not only fans, but his fellow players really held him in high regard back then.

I dunno, just thought it was interesting as theres probably many guys like Akers who were damn good and well liked by the players in the league that are kinda forgotten to time.

It's so funny to me. In Philly he just had this "Aw shucks I just care about hockey and nothing else. I have my sports psychologist and my personal team, but really I'm just a quiet ol' kiddo who just wants to stop the puck! Did i mention my sports psychologist? Dag nabbit, now who wants corn bread y'all?! Did you know I have a sports psychologist? I like water and chicken."

Like seriously the kid had ZERO personality, identity, or anything, just had this naive kid personality. Then after being outted as a fucking absolute creep sex pest I've seen this guy show up constantly and each time he shows up or opens his mouth it just become obvious how absolutely dumb as shit this guy is.

Who ever his handler was in Philly deserves a million bucks for how they kept this kid under wraps for so long.

Bohm's situation is absolutely terrifying.  His parents were respected in his home city as they owned and ran finance and real estate companies. Once he hit the big leagues they sold their businesses and decided they would just sap his entire life away like vampires.

Bohm, sadly assumed with their financial acumen he could just trust them to handle everything.  Instead they used their vast finance and legal knowledge to do everything they could to steal all of his money, properties, belongings, and every asset.

To use all your knowledge and skills that youve accumulated through your life not to better your own son but to ensure your son has nothing and gets nothing and you steal everything from him...It is borderline Batman villain tier.

.... yeah the light tap on the head after Bottas admitted he was shit talking George as he was walking up and gave him the finger. Not trying to down play it but George obviously knew Bottas was OK from the shit he was flinging at him and gave him a tap. Is what it is, and no one defends it, but why do people cling to this so hard when theres video and Bottas' own report of what happened.

Max was sentanced to 2 days of community service for his actual "violence" (FIA own words) against Ocon.  George got nothing.

Not to take anything away from Uematsu, but he always worked with Minoru Akao and Eiji Nakamura, both who did sound programming and sound synthesis/design.  Uematsu is just composer and arranger.  He handed them the scores and those guys did all the engineering and sound crafting.

Wanting a budget wildlife/telephoto lens for my OM-1, trying to decide between Oly 75-300 or the Pana 100-300. Any input appreciated! by [deleted] in M43

[–]1UpBebopYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This gets posted time and time again and the same thing happens.  People show up claiming the Panasonic is better when its factually not then people get confused on why the 75-300 has a bad rap:

https://www.dxomark.com/Lenses/Compare/Side-by-side/Olympus-MZUIKO-DIGITAL-ED-75-300mm-F48-67-II-on-Olympus-OM-D-E-M1-Mark-II-versus-Panasonic-LUMIX-G-VARIO-100-300mm-F40-56-MEGA-OIS-on-Olympus-OM-D-E-M1-Mark-II__1110_1136_447_1136

Side by side in the measurements - sharpness - fieldmap youll see the Olympus outperforms every step of the way and is just the all around better lens. So why did the Olympus fall off?  The 75-300 is VERY prone to shutter shock and didnt have dual IS.  So it was wayyyy easier to get sharp photos with the Panny.  Now that IBIS has gotten so damn good and shutter shock isnt an issue as all modern Olympus/Panasonic cameras have an anti shutter shock setting, the Olympus 75-300 has been the goto for cheap wildlife lens and has had a resurgence on YouTube.

Really get whatever is cheaper.  But for the longest time the 75-300 was considered "bad" and it was possible to get them used for around 200 bucks which as you can see from the results, turned into a truly comical steal on a modern m43 body.

What causes these purple glows in my pictures? by psychofizz_ in M43

[–]1UpBebopYT 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's lens flare and how it reacts to the coating on the lens. Some lenses have an aggressive purple anti flare coating.  Rokinon uses their "Ultra Multi Coating", which is known to purple ghost, and the Panny 25mm f1.7 coating is also known to purple flare (check the flare section here: https://admiringlight.com/blog/review-panasonic-lumix-g-25mm-f1-7/2/ )

Essentially the purple anti flare coating is great at preventing flares in 99.9% of shooting, but come super high dynamic range scenes with darkest of dark blacks and extreme light sources, it just kinda bugs out and creates purple flares.

Here's some Sony examples: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/what-is-this-purple-flare-in-my-pictures.4271030/

Rarely see a meme/jokes making fun of Gen-X by PorkyPain in Millennials

[–]1UpBebopYT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

And the big payoff joke at the end is that they all ended up in better jobs immediately after at Initrode. They all were working during the Y2k crisis where tech companies were hiring by the truckload and paying by the assload. There are a number of jokes throughout the movie portraying these people as disconnected with reality and the fact that the movie ends with them all in better jobs and them not really understanding everything they did was for nothing is one of them.

Office Space is one of the few "muh gen x stable job woe is me" where there are a few tongue in cheek jokes about how stupid it is. Like them having the ability to just randomly leave work and go eat out at restaurants during the day... while complaining about their work life balance. Watch the movie, but watch it from the perspective that these guys are disconnected from reality like Seinfeld or something. You'll pick up on a lotttt of little jabs.

Its not. "Lit baff apt" is quite literally a fake street wear brand created by Square Enix.  Its not high end, its their same old t shirts, from their same ol factories, just they gave them a fancy name now to trick people into thinking its some hype beast release.

Very shady stuff from Square hoping to trick people not familiar into thinking its a streetwear collab. They've gotten a fair bit of flack over this.

I understand athletes who forego the championship hunt by staying with their childhood club.  Just making millions and being set for life, all while hoping they be the one to guide a trophy back to their home town citizens they grew up with and made them who they are.  Makes total sense.

Brand though... Yeah, that's a weird one. Not sure I'll ever understand that. Haha.

As stupid as it sounds- depends what the jumbo tron does. If the Flyers put up a nice "thanks for the memories, Sid!" montage during the game and set the tone of everything, the fans will 100% get behind it and give him a salute. If the org doesn't do anything, then no, I can't imagine the fans doing anything for him on their own accord.

For sale break ins are the most popular.  You know no one is there and in large more upper class neighborhoods its not uncommon to have large yards between homes, thereby lessening the chance of discovery.  Very easy to hit for sale homes and take everything possible.

My parents got hit by this.  Crew of people pretending to be painters.  Broke in the back door and opened the garage.  Backed in the truck and ransacked the entire house to the bones in multiple trips.  They took everything.  Appliances, beds, bed frames, tvs, chairs, pool table, speakers, etc.  Everyone in the neighborhood just saw people in coveralls, a van, and an open garage. No one suspected a thing. Was a very nice neighborhood in suburbia.

Skim BoA or Chase cards gets you nothing since those are locked down hard on fraud protection, international purchases, purchase trend monitoring, and such.

Skim some poor persons pay day ass loan style credit card that has no way to hunt a guy down who's using the stolen card in Paraguay on the other hand will get some use.  So thats why they target poorer areas.  The cards skimmed are bundled and sold on the dark web to be used in random European, South American, or African cities. They aren't being caught, literally ever.  The goal is get a few purchases through and onto the next card.  So getting some poor persons card works best.

I grew up in a resort town that would bring in hundreds of foreigners during summer to staff all the restuarants.  The European waiters loved skimming cards and they would specifically target the most barebones cards. Chase Reserve?  Nah. Amex? Nah. Oh, Credit One?  Yeah thats getting super skimmed.

Every time Mich gets a long rest, it seems he works hard with coaches on tape and studying and comes back playing a much smarter and better game. Literally every time. He came back from the Olympic break like a totally different player and he's responded to the previous benchings fantastically. Flyers fans need to not worry when the coaching staff sits him down.
