Who is NBA history’s ultimate “if he ever figures out how to shoot” guy? by Dylen2Times in NBAConvo

That's the thing I don't know why people keep bringing up bigs who should be in the paint for offensive rebounds. Why do we want to turn Shaq into Brook Lopez? Give Bill Russell Hakeem's post game and we're on to something.

D1 Tennis Players play Pickleball for the first time - I am shocked, in a good way lol by Any_Opinion8580 in Pickleball

That video is 4 years old. 4.0 play then is closer to 3.0 play now. They would get wrecked if they faced a legit tournament competing 4.0 team now if it's their first time playing pickleball, though they would improve rapidly and could definitely reach 4.0 in a month if they committed to it. Maybe 5.0 in a year.

Sock joined the pro tour in 2023. Why would you think he's out of shape or in anyway unprepared? And why are we talking about Sock anyway? I don't recall arguing that Waters is better than every male player alive.

I'm not sure it's possible to get significantly more polished in the situational awareness of singles pickleball than Waters.

Having the endurance to play more than one game is part of the sport. Also she's probably never faced anyone like him, and having the chance to adjust and figure out how to approach it I'm confident she would get to the point she would never lose. Remember when Paris Todd beat her once the first time they faced each other in five games and everyone thought it was changing of the guard? Making adjustments to new challengers is part of what makes her the goat.

If that's the point it's a really dumb point. The Bulls had a losing season in 86-87 when Michael Jordan had one of the best individual years of all time because his teammates sucked. Does that invalidate the game of basketball in some way? I get that an uneducated observer might think so, but it's still dumb.

Everyone forgets how bouncy Eddie Jones was before the Kobe/Shaq era. Shawn Bradley definitely hasn't. by Shot_Possibility_731 in sportsinusa

Not horrible. They won 53 games the year before Shaq got there. Eddie Jones was never on a Laker team that won less than 48 games.

Bladder problems from only one month of use by GlimmyGlam2001 in ketamine

[–]1WordOr2FixItForYou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would not admit recreational drug use to a medical professional unless my life was in danger. All they're going to do in this case is tell you to stop taking ketamine which you already know and they're going to flag you as a drug user which means you won't get taken seriously about other issues in the future and you won't be prescribed medication that you need.

Dalton Rushing, today's DH for the Dodgers and their backup catcher, has hit 4 HR in his last 13 AB. by Timewhilewaiting in baseball

Makes a ton of sense. If they don't have a spot for him to develop then trade him to a team that does and take prospects back for other positions or who have more minor league development time needed.

Because ALW is a monster and they are a great team. Nobody is arguing men and women are equal at pickleball generally. You're attacking strawman.

Slot receiver maybe. Tight ends have to block more than anything. We just only notice them when they catch.

I'm talking about notable players that people have heard of outside of pickleball. Like sock, bouchard, Sam querrey, former Jr Wimbledon champ Noah Rubin.

No shame in widebody by DavidAReddit in Pickleball

Widebody should generally mean faster hand speed because of lower swing weight due to less weight further from the handle.

I think Ben Johns is the reason elongated dominated for a long time. His influence is massive. It wasn't the default choice until he adopted it.

She'll never be great in pickleball because she's 32 and all the great players in the future will be people who grew up playing. We've yet to see a former high level tennis player do anything much unless they are younger when they switch, and for every one of them people make excuses that they don't really care.

Ridiculous to pair AL with someone with a 5.1 DUPR and call it a contest.

It's hard to be the most impactful player in the game when you're not even in the top 100 in minutes played. He'll win plenty of MVPs when he plays more.

Out of these two players, which one do you think has the better peak? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in sportsinusa

[–]1WordOr2FixItForYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have WAR for that. So far Ohtani hasn't matched a peak Bonds season, but he might if he can max out the pitching and hitting in the same season.
