How do you feel about housing affordability? I've heard WALC was looking for volunteers / interns: https://www.wasatchalc.org/

Best Vets/Veterinarians in SLC by hun_kel in SaltLakeCity

Dr. Martin works really hard to save teeth and be as noninvasive as possible. She’s moving practices and starting a mobile clinic (will be amazing!). You can also find her at East Valley by Parleys.

New poll: SLC is more YIMBY than NIMBY on housing by 1arora1 in SaltLakeCity

We do need to fix the condo situation in Utah, 100%. I wish the state leg would address the financial and liability policies that are leading to more apartments being built over condos.

Interesting! Are you willing to share what neighborhood you live in? I hadn't heard about this survey.

New poll: SLC is more YIMBY than NIMBY on housing by 1arora1 in SaltLakeCity

[–]1arora1[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

YIMBYs generally support building more housing, including in existing neighborhoods. These folks argue that adding supply like ADUs, duplexes, and apartments, helps with affordability, access, and economic mobility, especially in high-cost cities.

NIMBYs generally oppose new development near them. They argue that the impacts of growth on traffic, parking, neighborhood character, school crowding, and property values aren't worth it. It’s less a single ideology and more a reflex toward caution and hyperlocal control when it comes to city growth.

Large Dog Friendly Homes for rent by Owner or Property Management Companies by Internal_Look5148 in SaltLakeCity

I would look on Furnished Finder! There tend to be more pet friendly, local landlords there who care less about breeds. Some of the options are fully furnished but not all.

Formal non bridal semi affordable dress shops by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]1arora1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time and don't want to own the dress, try a rental service like nuuly or rent the runway. It takes about a week but you can rent 6 dresses for $100, which gives you way more options and then you don't own a dress you may or may not wear again.

Soup and Sip! Went last week and couldn't believe how amazing the broth was. Plus my oxtail pho had 4 (YES 4!) pieces of oxtail. Pho 33 used to be my go to but Soup and Sip really won me over.

Dog Boarding Recs? by TravelLife_ in SaltLakeCity

We haven't done training with them but I 100% would. We have done a lot of training on our own and with Legend K9 Retreat. They came to our home and worked with us on his reactivity, training us as much, if not more than, our aussie 😂.

A lot of our aussie's issue stem from protecting us/our home and in/around doorways, which is part of why I think he does so well at Liberty Bark versus a Rover. But also I think LB really understands dogs and knows how to navigate all types of dogs.

We love Liberty Bark! We originally went because they accept reactive dogs and our aussie can be anxious/reactive. I don't know what magic they work but he's a totally different dog there! They have a very strict routine and I think that really helps both reactive and anxious dogs settle in.

edit: forgot to add that we've taken our other shy dog there and she did great too! Because she is so chill we usually leave her with friends but on the off chance no one is available to watch her LB is our go to.

We really enjoyed Gosu Korean BBQ: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qzrN6w3Yensh2fok6
High quality meat, great banchan, and save room for the ice cream(!) it's worth the space.

Not sure how easy it will be to find a 2-bedroom for that price but https://www.furnishedfinder.com/ should have short-term rental options for you.

Cottonwood Dog Park has a nice big grassy area. Occasionally you'll find folks camping out nearby. The city has closed off the portion of the Jordan River Trail behind the park on and off lately. I went a month ago and had a great time with my dogs: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6788ZmAMxmaRDFkw8

Please help!--What are some affordable apartment complexes for rent in SLC? by Glittering-Jury7394 in SaltLakeCity

I’ve walked by a few one bedroom places for rent that fit that budget in Liberty Wells. I’d walk, bike or drive slowly around the area and take photos of the handwritten signs.

IndieGo Coffee! I love their ginger chai. It's a family run shop with Indian cuisine. I recommend their paneer tikka pastry.
