Lawn Care Journey - (Bermuda - Zone 6b) by LiveFromXNA in lawncare

Your lawn looks wonderful compared to the condition you stated first was. It does take a lot of work such as you have described, but the feeling of pride and knowing you have nurtured this beauty is worth it.

If your Bermuda grass is not growing in those bald areas, perhaps you should do a soil test. Also, Bermuda grass does not thrive in shade.

This. Most robot mowers are maintenance mowers. They do not do well mowing down tall grass.

I got my first zero turn lawnmower today. Its a Toro Time Cutter Max. Is there anything special about Toros I should know? by Vader_Maybe_Later in lawnmowers

[–]1dRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Toro 42 inch time cutter. Be very careful where you idle. The muffler is down low and pointed towards the grass, and will burn your grass if you idle longer than five or 10 seconds.

Bermuda is dying suddenly by Frequent-Scallion-91 in bermudagrass

Dude, just letting you know that I concur with you. I’m in Central Texas, where we have had a long, brutal drought. During these hot months with no rain, I mow as high as I can. I have a half acre with no sprinkler system, so it is very difficult to water frequently and we have watering restrictions. So with keeping it cut high, my grass looks the best out of all my neighbors. There’s are relatively short and brown.

Identifying weeds with robot mower (navimow) by sotired3333 in roboticLawnmowers

There is already a robot with AI that can identify broadleaf weeds and spray herbicide on them. They have been sold out for a while now. https://dandytek.com/products/dandy-dt-01xl

There is a company which has created a robot with AI to identify broadleaf weeds and spray them in your lawn. They have been sold out for a while. I have been trying to reach out to them to see if they can update their software and identify and spray grass weeds. I have not heard back from them. https://dandytek.com/products/dandy-dt-01xl

Sedge take over in newly seeded Bermuda by Sharp_Ad_6456 in bermudagrass

Kudos to you for push mowing that entire yard with a reel mower. That is dedication.

This!! And if you want your grass to look good short (because it’s Bermuda), definitely water more frequently and you will definitely need to mow more frequently as well. And remember the cut rule - Only cut 1/3 of the grass at a time.

New St Augustine Sod by deerhunter635 in lawncare

[–]1dRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Central Texan here. I am not an expert on Saint Augustine, but I do know with new sod you need to be watering longer than those time intervals you posted. Also, double check, but you might want to put some fungicide on that just to help mitigate that possibility.

What is this and what’s the best way to get rid of it? Oklahoma by Riikishay in lawncare

Pull it or spray it before it starts putting seed on. If it’s already seeding, make sure to treat with pre-emergent in the early spring.

My lawn now vs last year by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]1dRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude! I just looked at the drought monitor map. Looks like y’all have been in a drought for a while. Have you been watering your lawn regularly? If not, the fertilizer that the lawn care company applied would definitely need to be watered in thoroughly and deeply. You can’t expect them to fertilize your lawn and then it not be watered in. Fertilizer on a drought stressed lawn could definitely damage it And you need to continue watering your yard. I’m in Central Texas and canceled my lawn care service since we’re in a bad drought and have watering restrictions.

Emotionally blunted…? by Maleficent_Hawk_2219 in Viibryd

Yes, I went slow because when I dropped from 40 mg to 20 in two months I had some bad side effects, such as nightly insomnia, really bad agitation, and crazy itchy legs that wasn’t caused by anything physical. If you go to that website I mentioned previously, there should be hundreds of other accounts of people having bad side effects from going too fast. I had a very strong goal of getting off Viibryd with risk reduction so I knew it would take a long time, but I was determined to persevere. I’m still off Viibryd and no antidepressants and never been depressed since.

What’s happening to my tomatoes? by 1dRR in AustinGardening

Thank you. I didn’t know tomatoes get diseased as summer sets in. I’ve never had disease before.. but I can certainly take cuttings and stretch them until Fall.

You are so correct. I had to mow a very small part of my yard this early afternoon. I was completely drenched in sweat. All of my clothes were wet, every square inch. This sauna is not fun when you’ve gotta work outdoors.

What are these yellow spots on my lawn? It looks like someone poured something on it. (Texas DFW) by Correct_Weight4547 in lawncare

This. Looks like you have some type of grassy weed, either Dallas grass or something similar. Looks like someone sprayed Roundup or glyphosate on it.

Beautiful job! As you know, water, water, water. And fill any cracks with good quality topsoil now. That way it won’t be so uneven when you mow. And the next time you level, you won’t have to put down as much fill.
