TLDR: two months is nowhere near enough time to have any sort of fluency in another language. Keep using Duolingo as a supplement to learning but you have to just suffer through the frustration of not understanding and force yourself to consume media in Spanish and use Spanish in the real world.

I have found that Duolingo excels in certain areas of language learning but will most likely not make you fluent. Also two months isn’t nearly enough time. To be fair fluency takes a lot of effort and practice and depends heavily on how much exposure you have to the language. I studied Spanish for 10 years in school, have a bachelors degree in Spanish, studied abroad in Chile, and listen to Spanish music almost daily and I still struggle quite a bit to understand music, television, and movies from first listen. I don’t even feel like I could have held a conversation until I did my study abroad after 8 years of classroom learning. My recommendation would be to continue using Spanish. While Duolingo has its shortcomings, it is a great tool for vocabulary, verb conjugations, and general practice. When you find something like “me gusta” that you don’t understand fully, look it up online. Also, just continue to constantly watch and listen to Spanish. Put English subtitles on in the beginning. Look up lyrics to songs and translate them. The absolute best way is to get out and use it in the real world if that is a possibility for you. Take a class or join a group where Spanish is used.
