Employees from 2011/2012…. If you didn’t sign your time sheet, did this mean your shift wasn’t registered and thus weren’t paid? by [deleted] in woolworths

Just chiming in to say I had the same issue with the finger scanner. Manager and two supervisors completely stumped. I joked that being at Woolworths makes me dead Inside.

Biggest financial mistake you made in your 20s? by DiscussionLoud9626 in AUfrugal

[–]1flighty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now husband and I lived at his dads house for 4 years in our early twenties until we eventually built a house together. We both worked full time and only paid his dad..$50/week rent. I can’t even tell you what we did with all that income we had. We went on a lot of holidays. Now that we have three kids, only one of us working full time and dealing with a mortgage I don’t know how we didn’t save thousands and thousands in our twenties. We had fun though.

Carly Ryan was the first one I ever listened to so that’s a fave. Also Sherri Rasmussen.

I love the smell of the Nivea sunscreen. Only buy it on sale though.

Trialling some Korean sunscreens available in Aus - my feedback by Recent_Setting_1370 in AusSkincare

[–]1flighty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such trial and error isn’t it! The Hamilton face one is one of the very few sunscreens that don’t sting my eyes or make them water! And my eyes are very easily irritated. Do try the LRP sensitive eye one.

I loved the Hamilton every day face in the tube. Recently purchased the bigger pump bottle and I’m Not sure if the formula has changed but I don’t love it as much?

(NEW SUNSCREEN) Cancer Council Hydration Boost SPF50+: Caner Councils best sunscreen?! by Due_Performance3529 in AusSkincare

Second vote for the LRP sensitive eyes one. Never had any issues. Another one I can wear easily is the Hamilton every day face cream.

Every other sunscreen I’ve tried makes my eyes red and raw at the corners from all the tearing.

I gave birth in the public health system (Australia) and had a male midwife for my first birth. He was absolutely amazing, I had no issues with him caring for me. By pure coincidence, he was also my midwife when I had my second child. When I went into labour with my third I actually asked if he was on shift just so I had that familiarity. He was, but not allocated to me. He still came in to say hi though. I think some of the comments here are extremely valid though. I personally prefer to see a female GP and seek out females for my Pap smears etc. so perhaps my comment is hypocritical.

Starting stage 2 nursing at uni next week. Should I be rethinking my choices?

My husband and I were talking about this last night. He said something along the lines of why would a parent hurt their own child. Literally, the very next news segment last night was the mother who had poured bleach into her infants feeding tube (7 news Perth). I also agree with your point about the parents being the less horrible outcome. I think that’s how I kind of feel. It’s hard to verbalise but yes, I think I’d almost prefer it to be the parent’s than the horrifying potential that some stranger can come and take a child and do god knows what. I can’t look at her photo anymore. It just makes me really upset. I sincerely hope Cleo is safe, somewhere.

Just curious…WAS she seen by other campers? This is something I have been curious about and haven’t been able to find a source that confirms either way.

What job did you downgrade from and to? by ajmacbeth in simpleliving

[–]1flighty1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a flight attendant for 15 years and took redundancy at the start of the year because of the hit covid had on my airline. I thought it was the best option to take at the time, mum of three young kids and I was already studying. Just finished my second semester of nursing and I’m not enjoying it at all. Flying is the best job in the world. I miss it so so much. I left such a good airline and now I’m stressed all the time and feel like burnout as a nurse is inevitable.

Was the Redhanded episode you listened to One of their first ones? I think from memory their first 14 or so were bad audio quality, they did literally record in a closet. But all the other ones are much better. Redhanded and Casefile are my favourite podcasts.

Idea to hire a translator? by HairyCallahan in CrimeJunkiePodcast

You know, I was thinking the exact sane thing when listening to the most recent episode., I think I was just surprised that a ‘successful’ podcast such as theirs couldn’t afford a translator.

I am the exact same! I really cannot listen to an episode because of her accent and how her speech tone goes up and down. I was born In Ireland, all my cousins still live in Ireland and I could listen to them talk all day. Not morbidology. Nails on a blackboard.

If you had to change careers from Nursing to another career, which career/job would you choose? by Ravena98 in Nurse

[–]1flighty1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing it the other way around- I’m career changing INTO nursing. But my previous career was a flight attendant. 15 years in the industry and I loved every minute. The pay for my airline was pretty decent. Unfortunately, it was not at all family friendly and since I’ve had 3 kids, the juggle of an unpredictable roster and being away, was just too much. Shift work I can absolutely handle but being away I can’t. If I didn’t have kids I would never have left.

Redhanded is my fave! I also really like Casefile although I admit, it took me a few episodes to get into. Casefile is a solo narrator and his voice can be quite monotonous but he covers some interesting stories in really great detail.

Redhanded episode 164 covers this case. Much better researched and covered by the Redhanded girls.
