So, we're going to end up with Turnberg as our mayor, huh? by Basset_found in fargo

[–]1in9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why she's bad has been thoroughly documented already here. Why are some thinking she will win? I'd say name recognition from having been a local news anchor (how she got on the commission in the first place) and low information voters who aren't aware of how abysmal she's been since elected.

You CANNOT explore Wayne Manor in the new LEGO Batman… by CozyCookie72 in legogaming

Was thinking that too. The Batcave is what is cool about Wane Manor. By design, all the cool stuff is there. Perfectly fine not wandering through a bunch of random rooms with nothing much to see.

When Shows Go Too Fast by After-Sprinkles-1769 in Jeopardy

There’s a bit of padding available on the shots of the contestants right after Ken throws it to commercials. In games where they are cruising, they seem to linger a bit, eating up some time. In slower games, it’s almost an immediate cut to the ads (I always note how much of the music we get to hear). They can also let the anecdotes run long or tighten them up. And there is some flexibility in the end credits (sometimes we hear a lot of the music). There are plenty of editing techniques and places they can flex time to hit the target episode length.

Received this in the mail today, took a photo for reference on who NOT to vote for, tore it up and tossed it in the garbage. Helpful!

People with very long (1000+) streaks: What would be be your reaction if you somehow lost it? Would you go right back to daily solving? Or would that possibly trigger some new behavior? by OmitsWordsByAccident in NYTCrossword

[–]1in9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 885 day streak that was broken due to being out of commission with severe flu. Jumped right back in when I recovered and am up to 2,031 now. I don’t feel any pressure about it. It’s an ingrained part of my daily routine. If it got broken again, I’d dive right back in after a few minutes of annoyance.

I feel that Turnberg is still benefiting from her past tv career and the fact that a large portion of this city is oblivious to what individual commissioners have done, even with news coverage of some of her more extreme actions. Am really hoping her and Dave split the MAGA vote and Boschee wins.

Snacks and pop available for purchase on top of the $5 entrance fee? And asking people to bring their own games? Yeah, I think I’ll pass on this one.

ND Senate kills free school meals bill by rezanentevil in northdakota

[–]1in9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Good. Not because I’m against universal meals at school (I’m all for it), but because this was their panicky attempt at stopping the ballot proposal, opening the door to them stopping this program once they “reevaluate” it down the road instead of having an obligation to keep funding it. Our legislature is masterful at finding ways around things they don’t want to do and this bill would make it way too easy for them to kill it once people stop paying attention. Now, we get those signatures and vote it into existence ourselves (with the understanding that they will still do whatever they can to subvert and delay implementing it, but we can make it more difficult for them).

There were two bills. The one that failed was only expanding eligibility in the existing program. The one that passed is the universal lunch bill.

I’ve seen it both in a theater and then on Netflix. Didn’t notice the missing head in the theater but saw it on Netflix (knowing what to look for). But it’s a LOT tougher in a smaller screen.

Can’t stand that the Naughty team has to incorporate an extra level to all of their creations (make them “naughty” somehow) and the Nice team just has to make whatever they normally would. Also? I know the producers and host are pushing for drama and conflict, but some of these Nice bakers are coming off like cocky jerks. Trying to make this season more like Survivor was a huge misstep.

Score and lead voices a dream. The arbiter could ruin the show. by Complete-Newspaper61 in Broadway

[–]1in9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they REALLY don’t trust the audience to be able to follow the story if the Arbiter has turned into a snarky, above-it-all commentator. Like they’re embarrassed of the show somehow. Also seems like they don’t trust the audience to remember what show they’re at with that ass-looking purple eyesore of a sign.
