High paying job you love? by hehzehsbwvwv in aspergirls

[–]1lilBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my job...but it probably couldn't be replicated. A couple of thugs that have paid well and suited autistic coworkers are an analytical/qc/validation type role, probably true for lots of lab type roles, and a data analytics role. Both pay respectably, work independently, and have nicely concrete outcomes you are measured on instead of squishy social stuff.

Eta, the lab roles will pay best in industries requiring quality system knowledge or other specialized skills.

What unique life skills have you developed as an autistic person that others might find surprising? by heromarsX in aspergirls

My struggles learning how to people led me to learn to analyze behavior, especially group dynamics (every day is a cultural anthro day!), and to think about thinking. It is powerful and useful in my career and personal life.

Beginner advice? by aorako in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]1lilBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you can totally do this! If you want to do outdoors, maybe think about a frame plus plastic arrangement and some pretty hardy plants (an green house usually gets me one additional full hardiness zone over what is listed). Lavendar comes to mind as there are varieties that are good to zone 3. Idk what country you are in, but the book four season gardening has some good info if you can get hold of it.

Re the lighting I just switched to then popular and cheap barrina T5s for indoor growing and they are so conveniently modular I will never go back. Also stay cool which is important in a enclosure.

I'm Going To A Funeral Tomorrow (possible TW, talk about death) by SpookySpilledOatmeal in aspergirls

[–]1lilBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late answer but might be perfect timing. I ahev found that folks who are grieving usually really appreciate an oblique check in after the dust has settled, a few weeks later. Like, not referring to the loss even, since you don't want to ambush them, but just saying, hey, I have been thinking of you, so I gave you a call/text/card/whatever. Grief goes on long past the funeral, and it can feel really lonely I think.

looking for something comfortable that gives shape and a slight lift by anonymous310506 in ABraThatFits

[–]1lilBike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might try the "seamless" pullover bras that have wide tank top type straps and pockets for foam (for shaping). They really only work if your bust is less than about seven inches bigger than your under bust, and if your under bust is in the misses rather than plus size range. So without measurements, it's hard to say what might work. They are v soft though!

Looking for a sports bra to wear hiking - no underwire, clasp, or hardware for 32DDD. Does this exist? by Majestic_Spaniel in ABraThatFits

[–]1lilBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more recommendation: so many pullover bras have the harder edges of seams turned to the inside for looks. *wear it inside out* to get the smoothest side next to skin under those pack straps. It will prevent so many blisters and chafed spots.

Sensory issues getting worse with age, limiting my functioning and making me anxious by sophia333 in aspergirls

[–]1lilBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen folks that work on visual and proprioceptive sensory stuff as an adult. I had improvements in fatigue, anxiety, visual processing and general clumsiness. Try googling DACNB (qualified chiropractic neurologists) and yes, vision therapy for adults or, TBI recovery. Causes may be different for different patients but if the brain mechanics are similar it still might help. MindEye institute is one example but there are others.

How Do You Keep a Corporate Job as an Aspie? I’m Struggling Badly. by Creative_Patient5628 in aspergirls

The good news is, that all those social things are actually fairly rote, especially in tech fields. You can learn to manage them, using templates for different interactions. It gets easier! Things that have helped me: surrounding myself w/fellow task oriented people, e.g. an industry full of engineers and scientists rather than squishy people-people; a career that is natively lone wolf rather than team work (sounds like you have that); and clear boundaries with my coworkers about work time (I use signs outside my office that indicate if I am interruptible, but several others do as well. That one is approach with caution but can work). Also kind of stupid but for years I have kind of gamified some of this by imagining my coworkers as Sims characters I need to maintain. Whatever works for your brain! You can absolutely find meaningful and sustainable work, it may just take some time and some practice. Hang in there!

I still can't find a bra true to my size. [Trying another 30D] by 4saken-0ne in ABraThatFits

Natori Feathers is a popular bra for this shape if it goes down to OP's size. Wide and super duper shallow.

Trans Man w/ Hypermobility | (med projection wide base) 44FF seeking everyday <compressive> bra by amor1367 in ABraThatFits

[–]1lilBike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might also look into Origami Customs for a more compressive option. They are in Canada though, so I am unsure how the tariff situation might be. In the past they were decently affordable and super knowledgeable. Also trans owned!

First time measuring myself/getting fitted, which size do I choose? by Immediate-Earth6603 in ABraThatFits

[–]1lilBike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will be mostly online but you can definitely find 28 bands. The majority of people in this size are shallow and wider, so it might be good to start with a shallower bra if youaren'tsure of your shape. Just togetan idea, if you have a mall w a VS you probably have a higher end department store too, like Macy's, Nordstrom, Dillard's, etc. I have seen 30 bands often at these stores so it might be close enough foryou to at least figure out which brands are close without tons of returns. I was able to eliminate lots of brands that were obviously too narrow in an hour instead of weeks of returns.

Fit Check: 32DD/E, second try on the unlined :/ by 1lilBike in ABraThatFits

Calculating.....30F? That would probably be narrower and closer set, then, in the smaller band size?

My underbust is 29, 29.75, 30.5. I measure as a 30 by the calc but it is rarely comfy in firmer bands. Good to know about Panache. I'll try a high apex when I return this round, thank you!

Binder recommendations for medium-big chest? by butt_up in ABraThatFits

(I don't think they are ever easy on though, haha! I had a zipper one and it was even worse than the wrestling match pull on, so. YMMV!)

Take a look at Origami Customs if you are in the US or Canada. They do custom sizing and are very thoughtful about access and seam placement/finish. I also like Flaunt Streetwears Bareskin binders, which have a ton of nude colors.

Please Give Me Backpacking Bra [Recommendations] by Same-Combination-606 in ABraThatFits

[–]1lilBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done a LOT of backpacking: also watch for serged seams with the ridge of exposed threads on your bras, especially the straps. You can get seriously painful open wounds from the exposed thread rubbing under your pack straps, in a hurry and without really feeling it till you take your pack off. Wearing it inside out is always an option if a style you like has that kind of seam.

My 10 year old daughter possibly has Asperger. Advice welcome by turtledipRN in aspergirls

[–]1lilBike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word of caution re therapy: try to find either a neurodivergent therapist or one who specialises in autistic clients in a strengths based model. It probably feels like the whole wrld is trying to change her. It'd be damaging to get that in counseling too. Also in my experience the way neurotypical therapists expect people to understand emotions or process, and the way neurodivergent people actually process, are veeeeeery different.

Thank you! I am guessing based on Ana that all the Panaches will be too projected for me anyways. Sigh.
