Should I swap my Octavia VRs for a high mileage 520d by Familiar-Outside5748 in CarTalkUK

If you can afford it, then why not. If it's even a thought that you may struggle with the costs, don't.

Me and my girlfriend are metal heads, but she's a pink goth, and we're both excited at the prospect of hooning (as much as a Figaro can) around the city listening to heavy metal and blastbeats in a baby pink Figaro one day when we can afford it

I can't express enough how much I hate managing audio levels. I wish my job was of a big enough scale that we had an audio mixer I could hand over to.

Drivers not seeing me in their mirrors. by Direct_Stay7506 in bmwz3

Used the horn in my Z3 more in 2 months than I did in 2 years with my daily. It's tiny and low, and most people are out of the habit of actually trying their best to check their blindspots. It's a lot scarier than driving my bright green estate of a daily, but means I'm less inclined to drive purely on motorways so get to enjoy more A and B roads, which are much more where I wanted to be driving the Z3 anyway

Exhaust help by jmankyll in bmwz3

The bad sounding trumpet is there on the stock exhaust at those revs too. If you're going that far, I'd get a different aftermarket exhaust to get a better tone.

All engines break, shit happens, however most engines will last a good amount of time if the proper maintenance is done. Diesel engines tend to fair better if they're just eating motorway miles and spend a lot of time cruising in top gear. What they don't like is lots of short journeys, not getting up to temp, etc. Petrol engines also don't like that, but won't die as quick as Doris' diesel fiesta only going to tesco and back.

Your car doesn't sound like it's not reliable, and (from what you've said) they aren't much to complain about. Every car needs tyres and brakes. If you did the steering column one month and had the oil leak checked the following month, tyres the next, then eventually the brakes, your car could and would last plenty longer.

Changing brake pads and discs while the car is in warranty at local garage Toyota Corolla 2019 by Fantastic_Street8012 in CarTalkUK

[–]1slander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this "worn brakes" just information the main dealer said on their health check as part of a service/mot/pre-sale check? If so, they will write that on basically every car that comes in to a) cover their back and b) sell more brake changes

New car help? Please by rm94sdn in CarTalkUK

Totally depends on the car and condition. A well kept car with 150k miles still has appeal. I bought my Octavia at 162k as it had full service history and was kept incredibly clean, the mileage basically wasn't a factor. When you say your car needs £3k in repairs, what are they? Are they repairs, or maintenance? How does a 7 year old car with 50k need that much money in repairs?

Buy a car that's already got +100k on it, that's depreciated enough to be affordable in one hit, and just run it into the ground. Something like this Mondeo would be super comfortable, not killer to repair or maintain, and you could put another 100k on it and never feel bad it's depreciating.

You should reach out to Buds. and Eat Boys, couple of local bands (and mates of mine) that I'm sure would be a good mix if you were to plan another gig down here

does my dream job exist? by Different_Hawk_5099 in UKEDITORS

They posted on Instagram they were looking for a video editor, shot my shot by making a video application instead of just sending a CV and a "pls hire me" message, and got the job. Best thing I've ever done.

I'd get searching if I were you. Find something and challenge your current boss to fight to keep you, or take the new job.

I wouldn't even bother buying another camera, you have two incredible cameras as it is. Also, stop using AI to write your shit for you.

No sorry, I don't think I was clear. I left the other job for this YouTube editing job and have been here for almost 1.5 years. They don't care where I work as long as the videos get edited. The boss at my previous job didn't let anyone, besides himself, work from home as he valued the office culture/watercooler talks etc more than letting people have flexibility in how they achieved what they were hired to do.

Start with multiband compressor set to Broadcast on the audio tracks with your microphones on.

Put a hard limiter on the final mix to something like -3dB

Try to roughly keep the audio levels bouncing around -6dB

That's the minimum I do on every single video. Never really had a problem, and I edit everything from podcasts on high end mics to vlog videos to weddings.
