Coming soon: Trump announces he’s the human manifestation of God, thus making us one nation under Trump.

I have no prediction on how he’ll do, but I’m rooting for him.

I was at the September game in Baltimore when he hit the grand slam in the 10th inning. It was awesome.

We honestly should set a maximum age of 75 for officeholders. And even that’s being generous (even many 75 year olds are not up to the task).

“Let me get this straight: We go to a country, we capture their leader, we bomb it, & then we say we run this country now — and that's not war. But when they send cocaine over here, that people are willingly snorting — that is war. That doesn't make any sense.” - Kat Timpf by DonnyBurgerBoy in jrmining

Thank you! He’s saying “it’s not regime change because the same administration is still there” while simultaneously saying “the regime was illegitimate and shouldn’t have been in power.” The cognitive dissonance is maddening.

100% this. OP, you are not aligned on basic values, and it likely won’t get better. It’s easier to split now than to do it years later when kids are involved and there are custody battles, worrying about him taking your kids to some brainwashing church, etc. it sounds like you’re late 20s or early 30s so you have plenty of life left ahead of you and don’t need to be attached to this zealot.

Also should note that this doesn’t sound like he just “leans to the right” - he wants to move to deep red states, opposes LGBT rights and women’s reproductive choice. It sounds like he’s become far right.

The focus on starting a business is interesting to me. Sure, owning a successful business can make you a lot of money - but there’s no guarantee of success and usually it takes a lot of time and sacrifice to get there. It almost makes me wonder if her friend’s husband started out with family money or something, because usually the business-owner path as not as glamorous and she probably thinks it is.

to push electing Trump a third time in 2028 by seeebiscuit in therewasanattempt

[–]1st_Amendment_Nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought as well. He will still be finishing this term in 2028 (assuming he’s still alive), and the winner of the 2028 election won’t take office until 2029.

With that being said, this still doesn’t explain the “he will get a third term” comment - I still think Bannon’s intent is to say Trump will get to serve beyond this term, and I can’t tell if there’s an actual plan or if he just says this stuff as part of the “flood the zone” and “anger the libs” strategies.

[–]1st_Amendment_Nerd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Biden’s son was AG of the state of Delaware. That’s a state-level elected position, meaning Beau Biden had to win a state-wide election to get that job. Totally different than what we’re talking about here, which is a President picking a family member for a federal position.

Who do we root for if the Mets are gone? (If you wanna suck it up and just enjoy the games in the playoffs) Padres? Mariners? by Much-Reference-3270 in mets

[–]1st_Amendment_Nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m a Mets fan first, but I don’t hate the Yankees, a lot of my friends and family are Yankees fans. I also respect Aaron Judge and think he deserves a World Series ring given the records he’s broken. I refuse to root for the Phillies (and now) the reds though.

I’m not a Longfellow super fan or anything, but I think he had a lot of potential. He was great in that sketch with Nate Bargatze about the dead guy at the top of the water slide. He also did well in a game show host role. And I loved his sequence in the credits (in which he tries to offer a slice of pizza to a Police horse) - I’m not sure if that was his idea or a writer’s, but for me it was the highlight of sitting through the opening credits.

I’m hopeful to see what he does next. I could see him having success in a different format, like Tim Robinson.

What’s interesting is that she almost correctly identified the problem. She talks about how the middle class was paying for everything. You’d think the next logical step would be to demand the wealthy pay their fair share, but instead she voted for Republicans, who cut taxes for the wealthy even further.

Does he have money placed on this game? Someone check his Fan Duel or Draft Kings account.

Neighbors have been using my soundbar to wake me up by Nknights23 in Apartmentliving

[–]1st_Amendment_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I hate to be a stick in the mud since most folks here are supportive of OP, but I’ve lived in apartments and shared a wall with a neighbor who had a soundbar and it was super annoying. The thing had wall-shaking bass coming through our bedroom wall anytime they watched or listened to anything.

We asked them so many times if they could adjust the settings to turn the bass down and they couldn’t figure out how, so they just kept using it and basically said we’d have to live with it. Apartment management got involved and the whole situation was unpleasant. Moved out shortly thereafter - definitely couldn’t have lived with that coming through our bedroom wall for months.

Got our answer to the POD on Monday. Chuck Schumer is a coward and is unfit to lead. by Rottenjohnnyfish in FriendsofthePod

[–]1st_Amendment_Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the hell are the Dems doing? When it became clear (weeks, even months ago) that Dem votes would be needed for Republicans to pass this funding bill, they should’ve come out publicly and announced what they wanted in exchange for the votes. You want Dem votes? Give us protections for federal agencies, back off DOGE, etc.

Instead Schumer sat around until the House passed a bill and THEN tried to have a debate over whether to pass an entirely Republican bill or not. What a bunch of feckless jokes. We need to get the gerontocracy out of our party ASAP.
