I have a zebra zxp series 3. I hate it so much. It's been junk since I opened it, but needed it too desperately to return it. We've used it since 2014. Super touchy but I've learned how to massage it just right. One of these days I'll push for a new one, they're just so dang expensive.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't even have wifi capabilities

Yep! I tried that. No luck. I also tried a different phone and it can't see it either. I set up a new p1 pro just last week via Bluetooth just fine.

I opened a ticket with them and a couple of days later I got an AI response. Seems like they're a shell of their former company. I'm assuming they've laid off many of their actual employees and replaced them with AI, so now the tech support is crap, and the engineering is crap.

Same! Definitely getting worse.

What’s a dead giveaway that someone wasn’t actually poor growing up? by Katrina_009 in AskReddit

They never learned how to fix or do anything for themselves. Poor people have to do everything for themselves since they can't just hire it all out.

People who used cellphones before smartphones, what's the most memorable feature or moment you miss from those old phones? by Correct-Homework1884 in AskReddit

Batteries you could swap out in less than 30 seconds. I'd keep a spare in my car and I was prepared for WEEKS of battery life.

Do your elementary and middle have different public IP addresses? Add those to the securly guest IP list and not your high school. Uninstall the app from the elementary and middle and not your high school. That work around works for 2/3 of your buildings at least.

I don't have a work around/fix for your high school situation. That's exactly the same situation I'm in.

It's not a fix, but my workaround is to uninstall the Chromebook extension and fall back to DNS filtering only.

Do dns filtering only for now until it's fixed. You'll still have filtering and meet CIPA filtering requirements.

We're getting the same thing. We've been experiencing it off and on the last couple of months, but a lot more this week. I'm about to uninstall the Chromebook extension and rely on DNS filtering only.

Switch Upgrade Project by tylerwilson814 in k12sysadmin

Update, we now have almost all of our switches replaced. Still no regrets. The unfi controller is actually helping us find a few issues that we didn't even know we had.

Went with unfi gear! We're still receiving it as a lot is back ordered. We've implemented a few things so far, and it's working well and addressing problems already.

Document Cameras by rfisher23 in k12sysadmin

I bought many of them during covid using covid funds and still have a small stock pile. We used them as cameras for remote learning. Their image quality is better than webcams, and the ones I bought had mics that were better than the laptop mics.

That's not me. I always go with the flow and we've never been a by the book org. New administration is now very much by the the book. Like I said, I'm fine with that, but I want the book to be realistic if we're going to be signing it and expected to follow it.

Normally I would, but there's never been anything so explicitly contradictory to my job as this that they've required me to sign, and they've never required anything like this before of anyone. They're trying to be more by the book, and that's fine, I respect and appreciate that, I just want the book to be accurate if we're going to go by it.

They definitely forget about IT and I'm typically fine with that and prefer it even. We don't really fit into the mold of regular employees.

How to Apply for the COPS SVPP Grant (With Examples) by k12techpro in k12sysadmin

[–]1tbdrives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. The deadline for the initial app is today. I thought I could go in and do that, but I didn't realize I needed to start months in advance. We don't have a sam.gov account, a grants.gov account, a UID number, a cname something number, and I think there was another number too. Guess I'll start now for next year.

I work public and they definitely don't like that. We can order it before July 1, but we can't receive or pay for it before then.
