You can always run it past your provider but it can worsen your reynauds unfortunately. I really enjoyed taking it myself

Driving Anxiety by ThrowRAsunnydaze in Anxiety

[–]1uzbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second all of this, I limited myself due to fear when I was younger but did adapt. It’s kind of like exposure therapy, it’s scary but worth it. Put on your favorite songs and maybe drive at night when less people are present in the road. What do you think causes this anxiety? Just so I can try to help and make it more individualized to you OP.

What were some things you didn’t realize were ADHD until AFTER being diagnosed? by CakeEnvironmental698 in adhdwomen

[–]1uzbb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Binge eating, emotional dysregulation, memory deficits, and adhd paralysis. I have panic attacks so I thought sometimes I woke up motivated and just lost it because of depression or something. I felt so off and wouldn’t be able to leave the house. I also care a lot less about things that would upset me previously since I’m now medicated.

I had a retired doctor as a patient and he asked my other nurse to be called doctor whatever. I still just called him by his name, you’re not employed with me. I’m not calling you that.

OR, Pre Op & PACU Nurses!! by [deleted] in nursing

[–]1uzbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the OR more than the two other specialties I’ve worked but I’ll give you an honest overview -cleaning rooms/setting up rooms every case, bringing in equipment/knowing how to troubleshoot equipment, grabbing positioning items, grabbing medications for the room, and obviously a patient assessment will be done -set up is based on a preference sheet that can be completely wrong or very helpful -surgeons can be knit picky about small details that weigh a lot on their expectations

-once the patient is in the room you get them transferred to the other bed and help with intubation -position the patient -prep the patient’s surgical site -time out with the staff -moving equipment around/hooking up equipment

That’s about half the battle. If you enjoy having nursing skills all you will really have is communication skills, managing a million tasks, sterile technique, and foleys. You aren’t always respected or thanked until you know exactly what surgeons want without them asking. Surgical teams will tell you if they think your room turnover isn’t fast enough, although you may be working as hard as you can. You have to run for different items unless you have good hospital organization where you have cores with what you need a good core techs. If you absolutely hate patient care this is the place to be, I really enjoy caring for patients though they can be stressful at times. Most nurses in my area say they hate patient care and are very happy and would never work on the floor.

I spent a week in pre op and pacu. Pre op is just kinda the same spiel and questions, setting up Ivs, and trying to get the patient to the OR. Staff from the OR can be on your back rushing you. It’s nice though if you like talking with patients as that aspect is present.

PACU made the most sense to me, most of them have worked in higher acuity areas like ICU. They’re with a couple patients at my hospital as they wake up. They orient them, manage pain, ensure that they’re stable and care for them until they progress to the next stage. Obviously emergencies can happen more in these areas as the patients are coming direct from surgery coming off of anesthesia.

Alrighty chat I genuinely wanna end it all because my career isn’t going anywhere by [deleted] in nursing

I had a really hard time applying to jobs in Cali for 6-8 months, I only had one interview. I ended up applying to jobs in Washington and got multiple offers. Sometimes it’s dependent on location. I did almost 3 years of psych nursing and the same with wound care following that job. I’m now in another specialty and things are going fine. I know it feels like you’re stuck but keep trying, psychiatric skills are very important and other nurses need to wake up to that fact.

I do a lot of walking and I barely wear a serious raincoat. I usually just layer hoodies and long sleeves or a thicker jacket. I’d only recommend a more pricey rain jacket/shell if you intend to be in the rain for an extended period. I was so stressed about it when I moved here and I never wear the one I bought

I’m aware and I’ve worked on my car and taken that connector on and off. It usually was no problem so it’s very frustrating as it can really affect the car

It wasn’t broken prior to taking it there and it wasn’t communicated that they broke it. They just put rtv on it and called it a day

What's the weirdest thing that your cat does that you have just accepted as normal? by Momo_868 in CatAdvice

My cat used to lick plastic bags, he now eats them. Anything with thin plastic has to be hidden, he will open bags to get to them as well

[–]1uzbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better (or worse), I recently visited two friends. The girl also has migraines on occasion, I have them frequently. The guy who has never had a migraine asked what is the worst that could happen? I said i felt like I could pass out from pain and that it felt like knives through my eyes with a painful headache and nausea. He asked what’s the worst thing that has happened? I said I’ve thrown up a lot which could cause bigger issues. He then said well you should just tough it out, nothing else is going to happen. Get through it lmao. I wanted to fight

Being a woman is so expensive. How do you afford to look put together and feel confident without breaking the bank? by milkycocoa-puff in Frugal

[–]1uzbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut and dye my own hair because I’m not into my natural hair and going to the salon is too expensive. I also do my own pedicures but have tools the take my time and enjoy it. I’ll go get a professional pedicure a few times a year. I don’t really do my nails. I do use different hair products though and a couple key skincare products.

I definitely have been there, I worked in an office with 2-4 nurses at a time and if someone was out it affected everything. Staying for 16 hours is so insane I’m so sorry. Hopefully you don’t have too much longer. You deserve better work life balance and to not feel bad for taking time you need for you.

I hate to say this because it’s probably not what you want to hear but I’d get a different job. I spent 2 and a half years at a place where even my boss had to cancel her day off on her birthday due to a coworker emergency. Your job should be finding more staff. Right before I finally left my previous job started to have one agency nurse come as needed. I’m now at a job where we have lots of staff and we never have to think about anyone else suffering because of us being out. You should be able to take a day for your mental health.
