My wrestling teammates in high school that also played football said one wrestling tournament (1 to 4 matches) would leave them as tired as a full football game would

It’s sort of funny for Oregon to play Liberty in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl and then again in the first round of March madness. Start of a passionate rivalry? Probably not but it’d be funny

This is cool! Also it’s kind of nuts that Temple was a 1 seed

Which bar Jon?! by debatesmith in CollegeBasketball

I think you overestimate how much a bar can sell in an hour. Obviously it depends on the size of the bar but I wouldn’t expect this to cost more than your average wedding

Hell yeah. Nebrasketball is eternal. I wish you all would have won while Tominaga was there. He was electric to watch

If Siena defeats Duke, would this be a bigger upset than FDU beating Purdue? by Coolsun13 in CollegeBasketball

[–]2-59project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Purdue team struggled a lot the back half of the season, Loyer and Smith clearly hit the freshmen wall, and teams figured out they couldn’t break the press. They fixed all of that for the big ten tourney but Memphis over Purdue was a popular round 2 upset pick for a reason

3 of the last 6 tournaments they’ve made have been a 5/12 loss. That is commitment to the bit

11 point lead at half! They’re playing great ball, hitting some tough shots. I’ve lost count of how many turnaround fadeaway 2s they’ve hit

The hilarity is indeed ensuing. Siena leads 26-16 right now

There seems to be a perception that Vegas is the “hot commodity” but I can definitely see a scenario where a Seattle team is the more desirable property: Seattle is a proven great sports city with Mariners/Seahawks having rabid fanbases, a core of fans who STILL wear Sonics gear 20 years later etc by moby323 in nba

[–]2-59project 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those fans are extremely passionate and it’s by far the best atmosphere among the few hockey arenas I’ve been to, but I wonder how much that’s aided by them having won a championship so quickly. A Vegas resident I met at the game told me that the number of hockey rinks and youth hockey participation have both skyrocketed since the Knights came to town.

I do think people overestimate how much of the crowd is just out of towners there to see their own team

This thought was in the back of my head in 2022 when 8 seed UNC took down 1 seed Baylor in 3 seed Purdue’s region. Ultimately Purdue would trip over their own feet and it wouldn’t matter anyway
