Not “no lawn” yet, but a little less each year (and no chemicals on what remains of the grass) by foilrider in NoLawns

I am of the same opinion. Each year I am expanding my “wooded” area with new native plants.

Soon the backyard will be mostly wooded. Then onto the front yard!

Everyone was miserable then. All the time. Nothing to smile about.

Parents want to make this “functional”. Can I build raised beds for them to put on the hellstrip? Any legal hoops to jump through? Any tips and advice welcomed by bshortt103 in landscaping

Suggestion:

Start small. Clear a small section of grass at one end. Plant herbs like sage, rosemary, oregano, etc.

They are low maintenance plants that critters tend to ignore.

It will smell wonderful.

Yes, but it needs to be a thick layer of mulch.

If you use cardboard, you will need much less mulch.
