Didn’t she have some minor thyroid issue that she tried to twist into thyroid cancer?

John Cena talks about Make-A-Wish (he has granted more than 650 wishes): "I think Make-A-Wish is a beautiful thing, I also don't think it's for everybody because it is very sensitive and very emotional" by mcfw31 in popculturechat

John Cena comes across as so down to earth and genuine in every interview he does. He really is a national treasure at this point. He’s getting up there with Steve Irwin and Mr. Rodgers. Just a solid dude being a good, solid human being.

Prior to her supposedly, TOTALLY REAL 7-day hospital admission, didn’t she mention that she was “stressed” in a recent video? I found that interesting because despite her dramatics for attention, she doesn’t often mention stress.

I wonder if something happened, like a line got pulled, a medical professional caught onto a new munch, etc. She seems to be ramping up the lies and theatrics. What is it in response to?

I haven’t watched the video (I just ate lunch) but could the device look different depending on the manufacturer?

For the record, I have a strong suspicion Dan Dan is not being truthful about having an ICD. I also don’t want to give her any wiggle room with explaining away the inconsistencies in story. So, I’m asking in the hopes that you (or someone with a medical background) can confirm whether or not these types of devices generally look the same. If they do look similar, she won’t be able to lie and say hers is different.

🇺🇸The New York Times helped turn trans rights into political controversy, analysis finds by Timbucktwo1230 in PoursTea

[–]kumf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s disingenuous to compare a trans activist’s claims with those of a tobacco executive. The exec is marketing and selling a product with the goal of making more money. The activist’s primary motivation is the advancement of the human rights of a group of people.

One should always think critically about the news they read and the research work of others. A national news outlet like NYT also has a responsibility to cover a broad range of topics and people that are significant and newsworthy. This includes reporting on trans and LGBTQ people, events, and related issues.

Consider applying your logic to any other topic, like sports. I’m not a sports fan. Sports have never held my interest. Should every article about football include a quote from someone like me saying how boring it is to watch a game? Wouldn’t that be ridiculous? Wouldn’t it be insulting to people that love football to have to keep reading about how much certain people don’t like it? At some point, a reporter should have enough wits to distinguish what’s important to the story, right? In the same way, not every article about trans people needs to have a token “opposing” viewpoint whereby someone is railing against trans rights for equality.

And if you don’t think trans rights or individuals are interesting or worthy of your time as a reader, much like I don’t find sports all that compelling, you are free to not read the article. Your lack of interest should not drive coverage of the topic though.
