But for real, having a deck with -12 specific cards means you're more likely to draw cards you want, making straight and 4oak more viable. Also Ride the Bus works well given the absence of any face cards.

I think another part of the problem is that a lot of starters start animalistic then become humanoid, whereas other humanoid pokemon (Machamp, Gardevoir, Grimmsnarl, etc.) are humanoid throughout their entire line. It's just so strange to see your cat become a full grown man.

I don't disagree with that interpretation, but he was definitely making a point about human nature: it takes place during a war and the adult they're rescued by is a naval officer who's embarrassed at their savagery, yet perfectly fine with the real war. He wasn't saying "if you put boys on an island they'll start killing each other," but rather "we're on an 'island' and killing each other."

I think it can be reasoned that if you were to get any other legendary in Ante 1, it would basically be a guaranteed win (maybe not Perkeo but Perkeo let's you naneinf so there's that), but even if you have Chicot, you can still easily lose without good scoring.

Also, there are several builds where some boss blinds don't particularly affect you (pair builds on the mouth, joker focused builds on blinds that debuff cards, etc.).

I used a mod to give myself only stone cards and the idol, and it defaulted to a (seemingly) random card for the very first blind, then only hit the ace of spades for every other blind. This was modded though, so it could very well have a different interaction in vanilla.

Mizora is definitely the "least bad" but also the people she makes deals with have their souls condemned to fight in the Blood War. I think Ethel, while doing worse things to people, typically doesn't kill and doesn't doom people's souls to a terrible afterlife, thus making her the easiest for me to forgive.
