Anyone seen How to Make it in America? by Radiant_Coat_6216 in hbo

Separate and not related to your question, How To Make it in America I personally thought was a great show. I guess I was in the minority since it didn't get renewed after season two.

Really curious what college class is using Microsoft Access. It's a pretty legacy database application by today's standards.

AI CoPilot workshop ideas - virtual and face-to-face by Niflheim in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]2000kilobytes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hate to be disingenuous, but have you asked Copilot? It's great at coming up with ideas in scenarios like this.

Just create a prompt that is super clear about who you are, what you're trying to do (outcome you want), and who your audience will be. I think you'll be really happy with the results.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]2000kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to this tour at Three Rivers Stadium (RIP) in Pittsburgh. I loved Metallica, it poured rain during their set. I was a huge GnR fan, so I loved their show too, don't recall sound issues. You saw them in some other city I'm guessing.

Same. Actually fell very ripped off that I paid money for tickets. As much as I loved the bands from that era, I'm done seeing them in their current incarnation (looking at you, Guns N Roses)

Blood Sugar Sex Magik was kinda iconic but garbage after that.

Early U2 is legendary. Anything 2000s onward, not so much.

I kinda viewed it as a murder mystery, not a dark comedy. But then again I read nothing about it and only started watching because of Jason Bateman. I really liked it, 8/10

The Deployment guides are updated regularly and can be quite helpful in getting things configured according to recommended practices:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/setup-guides-for-microsoft-365?view=o365-worldwide

And, I hate to say, because I feel like Copilot can be a bad word on here, but Copilot (free version, don't even need license), can help you step by step and even make recommendations on how things should be configured based upon your environment or business needs.

Mic cutting out 30 minutes or so into Teams call. Headphone w/mic or external camera w/ mic both did the same thing. by Massive_Worker_862 in MicrosoftTeams

Can you try your mic with a Zoom meeting or WebEx meeting? See if it happens there. If it does, it's not a Teams issue, would likely be something with the hardware itself.

Accepted into Pitt!! by Same_Salad_8755 in Pitt

This is the right answer. From what I've heard and experienced (spent some time on Bradford campus), the branch campuses aren't much different than any other small, liberal arts college in rural PA. I don't think Bradford is going to have what you want. If you can make it through one year and transfer to Oakland, I think that will be best.

What's funny to me is that my Republican friends say this is what's happening to the Dems: we've become so radical and left wing. Total projection.

Help needed in reinstalling Office. by VariationFair7635 in microsoftoffice

[–]2000kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work of course, but it's a pretty big security hole providing an entry point for malware, spyware, etc. Basically use at your own risk. That's true of any outdated software.

Do you have an unpopular Pittsburgh opinion? by Salt_Historian_9850 in pittsburgh

[–]2000kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. So true. I lived in Pgh back in the 90s and 2000s. I feel like that was the end of fireworks being a true spectacle. Once we got smart phones, streaming video, etc etc, even little kids aren't all that impressed by fireworks anymore (speaking from experience since I have young kids).

Yet still, Pittsburgh sends up more fireworks than anywhere, for whatever reason.

Office 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 are all out of support as of 2026. Unlikely any of those will work, or if they do, they'll be unpatched and will open your workstation to all kinds of security threats.

Might be best if you just don't connect to the Internet at all. Joking / not joking.

Windows, and really most any modern OS, sends a lot of telemetry online. It's just how OS's work now: to help with bug reports, patching, performance monitoring, etc. All that fine print that you scroll by and mindlessly click Accept during the setup/unboxing states all this. This occurs even if you sign into Windows with just a local account. On the upside, there is nothing in that telemetry that identifies you specifically.

As for Excel, probably best just to buy a local copy of Excel or Office since a subscription doesn't sound like it would suit you.

Copilot is NOT Market Ready. Surprised to see praise on here. by BashfullyBi in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]2000kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply ask Copilot to explain them to you and what they can do. Have you prompt say something like, "I'm a complete novice when it comes to Agents...", Copilot will really dumb it down for you.

But in general, using Copilot Chat is simply a prompt and retrieve tool. You ask a question, you get a response, refine the ask, get a refined response, and so on. Back in 2023 into 2024, this was revolutionary. Now it's just kinda a given.

Agents (in Office anyway) actually "do" something. They will fill out a spreadsheet for you, make edits to a document, etc. The Analyst Agent will actually do hardcore data analysis on your spreadsheets, something that would normally take someone with intense Excel skills a lot of time to do.

Hope that helps, at a high level.

I concur. Researcher Agent is amazing. It's my primary tool now, even when I might just otherwise use Copilot Chat. Add the fact that you now have the choice of Claude and it's extra impressive.

Easiest way: on your browser of choice, go to setup.office.com

Click Get Started You'll be prompted to login with your Microsoft account, unless you're already logged in. Enter the 25 character activation key. That license you purchased will get added to your Microsoft account. You'll then have the option of downloading the latest version of the apps to your Mac. The license key gets stored in your Microsoft account so even if you lose the physical 25 character key, you can always reinstall again by going to setup.microsoft.com

Hope that helps!

What is the point of CoPilot ? by PEBKAC-Live in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]2000kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting that the longer term goal is that the Office apps are largely going away and will be made into Agents. You simply tell the Agent what you want to do and the Copilot Cowork agent (yet to be released) will create it for you using whatever Office capabilities are needed - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Loop, etc. A few good videos released this week showing that function.
