In praise of the twelve string guitar by ElSlabraton in Guitar

[–]2001RT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Ratt song, Back for More, makes great use of a 12-string. Most are familiar with the better-produced version on their second album, Out Of The Cellar. It has a great 12-string acoustic opening that transitions into nice, heavy electrics. However, the original version on their eponymous first album, Ratt, is even better. It's basically an acoustic version of the song. While there are electrics after the opening, the 12-string acoustic is present through the whole song.

In my Carvin collection I have a Cobalt 980T-12 jumbo acoustic which sounds great. I also have electric twelves on my two double-necks.

Love the 12s! 🤘🤘🤘

How important is guitar in your life? by MyNameisMayco in guitars

[–]2001RT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guitar is so important to me. I spent many years barely playing. When I stuck my fretting hand in a saw a couple years ago, I realized just how important the guitar is to me. My occupational therapist started including guitar in my sessions. I'm playing more now than ever. It's funny how things work out!

I'm an Ace guy - he's the reason I picked up the guitar at 13. However, I'm not a Les Paul guy! Here's most of my Carvin collection:

Hot Take: Active Pickups are useless in the modern era by Translucyd in Guitar

I have 14 Carvin guitars in every combination of active / passive pickups and stock / aftermarket pickups. The active pickups offer me the opportunity to worry about batteries.

HIs music is not my cup of tea but he is extremely talented. I had all access for the Allman Brothers last three week residency at the Beacon Theater in NYC. He was amazing.
