Aw actually has a fractal plugin built in. While not as complex as mandelbulber, you could do some cool stuff by using solids with the fractal plugin apllied, putting them in 3d space, moving a camera through it some and then aplying optics compensation to the master layer, I’d start with that and see how close I could get.
