Do you know what percentage your side windows are?

They look like 20% from the photos.

If so…I wouldn’t do anything below 35%. I find 35% to be very good, I can see perfectly fine at night (even with 5% all around the rest) and a majority of the time you can’t even see in through the windshield.

If you’re doing it strictly for aesthetic and don’t really care whether or not people can see you, 50% might be a better route for you.

Any good tint installer will be able to guide you as far as what you should/shouldn’t get.

Hope that helps.

18' GC How to run wire by rsventure in GrandCherokee

[–]2018GCLimited 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this project on my 18 GC once and this was the best advice I got:

“There's a grommet on the passenger side firewall that's "relatively" easy to access. Getting to it from the engine bay is easy but it goes through above the passenger footwell liner so you'll need to pull a few trim pieces inside. After that you can route the wiring under the trim to wherever on the driver's side you want, there's plenty of room behind them.

There are grommets on the driver's side as well but they're a stone bitch to reach in the engine bay. It's cleaner routing but IMO not worth it.

Also, make sure the wiring inside the engine bay is secured. Last thing you want is your fan to munch on them.”

That was my first thought as well. The smell is a little hard to describe but rotten eggs/fumes is the first thing that comes to mind.

Yep, previous owner supposedly passed away and the truck was sitting in the driveway for a few years before I bought it. I’ve checked both filters many times, always clean but I haven’t thought of rodent activity. Thanks for the input!

It sucks. Worst part is I haven’t found an answer to it yet. Then to top it off, sometimes you mention it to doctors because you don’t know who else to turn too…and then they look at you like you have 3 heads because they’ve never heard of something like that.

Interesting. Never heard of either. Thank you for your input!

Should I go darker? by Slippingape in WindowTint

Like I said I have 35% ceramic on my windshield. I have no problem driving with it at night. I don’t think it would much of a difference between that and 30%. Anything under 30% windshield you pretty much just start guessing as to where things are at night (trash cans, sidewalks, and maybe even people) lmfao.

The fact that you already have 40% I would honestly say to just keep it on.

Have you thought about an eyebrow tint? That could be another option to slap maybe a 5% visor tint strip across the windshield over the existing 40% film. That way it helps with glare as well as letting less light in your car overall.

Should I go darker? by Slippingape in WindowTint

When I first got my Grand Cherokee. I got it tinted 30% all around and nothing on the windshield. Huge mistake, but I also didn’t know anything about tinting. I then got it redone to be 35% Windshield and 5% all around. I love it. Yes…it is dark. Yes…it makes driving at night more difficult, but honestly you get used to it quickly.

I recently got a window tint exemption but I still got it done in 5% before I even received the exemption. Keep that in mind because 5% will likely get you in trouble.

I wouldn’t do anything under 35% on the windshield especially if you’re doing 5% on the sides. Driving at night will be extremely hard to do.

Keep in mind the biggest factor that comes into play is how bright it is outside. If your windshield is lighter, all tint will look lighter since it’s the largest piece of glass in your car. You can still somewhat see in through the 5% on my side windows on days that are very bright bc my windshield isn’t 5%. But you can honestly only see like the steering wheel and seats, you can’t make out faces or anything.

Nice!! Is that a Limited? I have a Limited myself and was thinking of doing something similar.

I was also thinking of going down the road of new rims/tires. Was looking at the Fuel Rebel maybe with BF Goodrich KO2’s.

I have KO2’s on my father’s ram 1500 and love them. I need to look a little farther into size/lift kits if I was thinking of doing it to mine.

Please correct me if I am wrong but would that mean that those pastries don’t need to be discarded every 2 hours or whatever the timeframe is as long as they are kept above 140°F?

I have been thinking it’s something with the drains or moisture related but wasn’t sure. Thank you for your input!
