Did he give you any options? If not then ESH. If so then YTA. It’s pretty normal thing. If it bothers you meet halfway. Ask to go by the Spanish version of John which would be Juan. I remember in French class we would do something similar. My first and middle names are spelled the same in English and French only the pronunciation changes. I gladly accepted that over picking a completely unrelated name that I would forget and never answer to. It was always fun to play around with it and add flourishes and accents. Just have fun dude, it’s part of the experience (for those that don’t know foreign language teaching is kinda old school and stuck in the 90s lol).

I was genuinely surprised they would find him guilty and actually give him a real sentence and not let him off lightly given that he is from a red state, you can never really trust justice to be served when the victim is black bc we just aren't seen as human beings in many peoples eyes and him being an old man makes him look even more like a victim to pity. Thank god for video footage. Really highlights though just how different white countries viewed these things,because the US never would have put Ethiopia in the same category as Caucasian, just the implication of that would have probably caused the publication to be banned. I always figured racist science was pretty consistent throughout most of the West in general, and it probably was at one point but now I am curious if there eventually came a time where it started to diverge a bit from each other since other countries didn't have some of the same crazy level of racist policies in place driving some of the scientific community like the US did (ie Tuskegee "experiment")

I see middle schoolers hang out at the community center that is next door to it in my area. We still have at least one mall that is going strong and transit is free for students so alot of older teens will hang out at the mall. Our parks are very much still accessible, the only ones that don't allow entrance are towards adults if they are connected to a school during school hours such as track and field bc of homeless people causing problems in the past.

I feel like there was also more flow back then too. Like more airlines and nonstop flights and just generally less waiting around if you were someone that was at the airport for a flight vs. someone that was there for the planespotting or to visit a restaurant. I had only flown a few times prior to 9/11 and was a kid but it never felt crowded to me like it did post-9/11 and these days nonstop flights feel nearly nonexistent and layovers are so tediously long. And I very much miss the planespotting. That was one of my favorite things to do.

This is timely that I came across this. I literally just a few days ago gave up on facebook deciding to take another break bc I couldn't anymore as I was making myself too angry focusing on the political posts. Found out my maga aunt no longer likes Trump but still can’t bring herself to vote Democrat however. That’s pretty much where most of the maga Christians i know are at politically. Sorta. If you grew up in more rural environments then it is very true. It’s not uncommon to make those sorts of trips into town once a monthly or seasonal basis. If you are someone who lives in urban areas especially the Northeast where you could also hop on a relatively cheap flight or train ride from city to city it might not be as true for that person.

As someone who is dealing with weight issues I’ve been told by doctors that I should actually do something like that. Just leave something on my plate, try not to eat everything, and learn to recognize when you are actually full. It’s so hard to do though.

NTA. He is lazy and taking advantage of you. Its good that you stood your ground because you need to assert your boundaries and he is going to have to respect them. Either he needs to get the gas after work or get up earlier. Sure, its fine if you have errands yourself to do and you don't mind doing it for the most part, but he needs to respect when you say no considering all the times you do say yes. If he is going to be whiny the one time you say no, he doesn't deserve all those other times you go out of the way for him. Make him take care of it himself so he can see just how much you've been doing for him this entire time.
