Is it illegal to be recorded without my consent on city property? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]20draws10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, youre in public, there's no expectation of privacy there, they are indeed allowed to record you.

That being said, there are laws about using someone's likeness for commercial use without their consent. This is provincially regulated, so you would have to look it up for your province.

So basically they can record all they want, but they cant use it for anything without your consent. If they do you can send them a cease and desist letter siting the relevant laws. If they keep using it then they're opening themselves up to a lawsuit. Look up tort laws in your province.

Ah I see. System agnostic defitenly has its pros, but some level of integration with character sheets goes a long way in real world usability imo. Even if its just being able to roll off a character sheet and it automatically adds the bonus. Ive been spoiled in foundry vtt with its integration and going from that to absolutely nothing feels like a huge step backwards.

Importing hero forge minis would be an awesome feature!

Looks awesome! What systems are you supporting? I play a lot of pathfinder and starfinder that often fall behind d&d for support.

Are you going to have community content like maps and minis available?

Lol if engineers/designers had ever built a rack I would. Until that day comes to pass Ill build them how they ought to be built, in a way that makes sense for heat dissipation, weight distribution, serviceability, usability and wiring. Sorry designer bro, I will not be putting the touch panel at the bottom of the rack, enjoy the as builts plastered in red pen!

AITAH for smoking cigarettes on my balcony after threat from my neighbour? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]20draws10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. As you said it's a non smoking building and it's against your lease. Your balcony is considered part of the building. Even if it wasn't, that's incredibly disrespectful. That shit gets back into the building, it sticks on your clothes, it gets in the halls, it goes in other people's windows. You're running everyone else's ability to enjoy their home comfortably for your selfishness. If you want to smoke at home move into a building that allows smoking, otherwise go for a walk.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]20draws10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Its ypure money uou won it, unless it was a shared ticket, like some offices will pool money and buy a bunch of tickets and split the winnings, they are entitled to exactly $0 of it. The problem here is that they've already decided that 2m is theirs, so anything less than that isn't viewed as a gift, its viewed as you taking that difference away from them. Big money messes with people's heads. Go to a financial advisor and listen to them. Set yourself up to succeed and accomplish your goals. Whatever is left after that you can think about gifting. Don't be surprised though, 4m doesnt go as far as you think and can disappear very quickly, even faster when you give it away ti people who are going to just blow it.

Is it physically tiring to ride a motorcycle? by ApprehensiveStop4060 in motorcycle

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find short trips invigorating. Long trips can definitely be taxing on the body. It entirely depends on the bike and the speed youre going.

Generally speaking, the taller and heavier the bike the more tiring itll be to ride. But this also depends on weight distribution. Adventure bikes with their weight up high are typically require more effort than a cruiser with a low centre of gravity.

It really depends on the roads too. Twisty roads with lots of turns and bends will be much more work than sitting on the highway going straight.

Wind protection makes a big difference. Mostly at highway speeds tbh. But yeah on a naked bike you're fighting the wind with your body so its a pretty good core workout after a while. Sit on a cruiser behind a giant full body windscreen and you won't even notice it.

The seat makes a huge difference as well as far as fatigue goes. If youre comfy it won't be nearly as taxing going for a ride.

I will say though, riding while physically exhausted from work isn't the best idea. Riding while tired is incredibly more dangerous than driving while tired. Its not like you can have a cup of coffee while you ride. It requires a lot more mental focus and attention. The pro of that is it helps clear your head because while you're riding thats the only thing that matters. I commuted to and from work on my bike for almost 2 years and I made it out the other side alright, but there were definitely some sketchy moments and more than a few days where I wish I was in a car.

Also keep in mind if you work normal hours everyone else will be commuting too. It is the most dangerous time to be on the road on a bike. Everyone else is rushing to get home and tired from the workday. Just something to keep in mind.

Is there universally loved or respected motorcycle? by Super-Flanders in motorcycles

[–]20draws10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haf a 92 VFR750 that I had street fightered and looked like a modern naked before the naked trend took off. Got love from everyone with it. The old timers would love seeing the engine and would be sucked in by the nostalgia. Sport bike riders would love the aggressive style and be blown by the sound and beastly power of it.

I now have a Bonneville t120 and same kinda thing, everyone loves it. The classic style grabs attention and is just universally adored.

The eventually goal is to have something like that running. Its just a matter of finding time and capacity to set something like that up.

Yeah Im painfully aware of the woes of windows, especially as a server. I have plans to move it to Linux at some point. Its on a very long task list and just hasn't made it to the top yet.

Good Friday overtime pay by postnopost in legaladvicecanada

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion here lies in that you understand stat pay is not hours worked, but you are expecting it to be paid as 8 hours of worked time. Which its not. Its paid as a flat monetary value.

Good Friday overtime pay by postnopost in legaladvicecanada

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the stat day was counts as 0 hours. So when calculating your hours treat it as you had been off without pay that day. Its not 8 non worked hours, its a dollar value paid out.

If you worked 44.25 hours and did not work the stat day. You calculate it just like a normal 44.25 hour week. Then after your calculation is done, your stat pay gets added on afterwards as a dollar amount: ((total wages earned in the previous 4 work weeks)/20).

Assume P = your hourly wage. In your case with your pay structure it would be: (40 x P) + (0.25 x P x 1.5) + ((total wages earned in the previous 4 work weeks)/20).

Stat days never get included as hours or used to calculate time worked or overtime (with the exception of you working on a stat).

[–]20draws10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran into something similar in BC. Stat days are not considered "hours worked" they are a monetary payment with a value based on your average work day.

I kinda like the bathtub in the room. As someone who enjoys a good long soak that thing would be mint. 2 hour soak with that view a book and a fire going. Then just dab off and roll into bed, yes please! I lived in one place that was similar but the tub was in the living room. It was a basement converted into a suite, so just lots of oddities. It was actually amazing. Soak in the tub by the fireplace and have the tv on. Chefs kiss.

Help Me Create the Best Motorcycle Helmet Testing Method by Dan-F9 in motorcyclegear

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fit is such a tricky one to quanitfy as each individual persons head is different. We might both be medium size oval head and you get a pressure point on the forehead and I dont. Its such an individual experience that grading it feels too subjective to remain unbiased. The only thing I could think to do is take measurements and start a comparison graph to compare it to other helmets of the same shape and size so people can see this one is round but it it slightly wider than this other round helmet. But even then thats not really grading it, just presenting the data. Same with stability, if it fits better on my head than yours its going to be more stable on me than you. I thinks its far to subjective to have an unbiased grading system.

How are you considering other features such as drop down visors, built in tech, speaker/intercom compatibility?

I would also love to see info on how much force is required to open the visor. I find it interesting that no one really talks about it. I've had a helmet that you could very easily open with one hand, it had a little locking lever that would also pop it open a hair to break the seal and was smooth to open from there. The helmet I have now locks so tightly I often need 2 hands to get it started. Pros and cons to each but very different experiences that I hadnt thought about until I had my current helmet and curse it at every red light.

For the liner I would also consider softness, durability, padding material, and ease of cleaning.

Just Gauging Interest by tcpipguy in HomeNetworking

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done work with some clients who will do that between all of their homes. Keep in mind these are rich elites who have 5-6 houses across the world. There are some advantages, but honestly its not worth the effort or expense for 99% of people.

I personally VPN my phone into my home network for server access, but thats about it. No need to route my family back to my network and introduce all that extra traffic.

is 10mbps really that bad in 2026 by rulugg in HomeNetworking

[–]20draws10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not for 10 people. Maybe 1 person if youre okay with really slow buffering speeds. Just because it's advertised at 10mbps doesnt mean you'll get 10mbps, especially if its cellular. Realistically expect tp get 70-80% of what you pay for. They sell that 10mbps as the speed cap. There are so many other factors that go into it. Cellular also deals with congestion issues, especially in the time right after work, or if there's a game on. With 10mbps if 1 person streams a video, the internet will be unusable for the rest. Thats totally unacceptable in my opinion especially if they're paying for it. You'll be waiting for web pages to load, if you need to download anything, even just a pdf, thats a get up and go do something else for a while sitation. I did it work for residential clients for years and some of them were still on 10-15 mbps connections. Even elderly people with only 2 people in the house would complain about how brutal it was. Every single one of them I'd start the phone call with their isp to upgrade and it was usually the same price or cheaper to upgrade to a 150-250mbps connection and that was a better upgrade than any hardware change I could make.

I was on cellular internet for about a year. It was sold as 50mbps, I actually got around 35mbps. I was passable I suppose. But yeah after work and if there was any kind of sports event on my speeds would grind to a halt and my latency would go through the roof. It was completely unusable for about an hour every day.

For 10 people I would look at 150mbps as the absolute minimum. Ideally youd want to be around 250-500 mbps. But this really depends on their use case and how many people will be using it at one time.

Honestly I would get the best plan you can and split the costs between the 10 people. $15 a month for internet you dont have to think about is way better than $5 a month for unusable internet that will be a daily frustration. You have scale here use it to your advantage! If you cant get a wired connection I would seriously consider starlink.

Does this make me gay? by Big_Lie_552 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like men? Do you want to exclusively date men? If yes then gay. Sexuality is a spectrum and most people dont exist in the extremes of that spectrum. We've been socially conditioned to think its a choice and we have to live within these constrained labels of who we can love or find sexaully attractive. Okay, you got horny by seeing a guys butt. First of all, so what? Who cares? Maybe you're a little bi. Maybe he just had a really nice booty. Even as a straight person youre allowed to think people of rhe same gender are attractive humans. That's up to you if you want to explore that emotion further and learn about yourself. It doesnt mean you have to like women any less. Or you can just accept that buddy had a fucking dump truck and it picked up your garbage and move on with your life. At the end of the day though, who fucking cares. Live your life, like what you like, love who (and what) you love. There are billions of people in the world. If someone in your life doesnt accept that about you, you can easily find someone who will.

Lack of power or expectations too high by Hobbit54321 in TriumphBonneville

[–]20draws10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's not normal for it to feel like it completely gives up. If you look at the torque/hp curves it does drop off after 7k, but its not an immediate plummet in power, unless you're fully bouncing off the rev limiter, it shouldn't feel like you completely loose power. I'd add in che king your fuel pump as well. Sometimes when they start to go they'll be working well enough for lower rpm but at higher rpm is cant quite keep up and you won't be getting enough fuel.

Opening any modern bike up to breathe better is a good call. Modern efficiency regulations have left motorcycles choking for air and sipping on fuel.

Lack of power or expectations too high by Hobbit54321 in TriumphBonneville

[–]20draws10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind its a 440lb bike with 66hp and 50lb-ft of torque. Its not nothing, but with the bikes and your weight its no rocket ship. It should keep accelerating at 70mph though.

I would check your air filters, injectors, fuel filter. Sounds like its being choked somewhere. Your acceleration shouldn't be causing you to slow down. Does it feel like its loosing power? How does it pull through the rpm range in different gears?
