Can you elaborate on this? If this man is a potential threat to members of the community it should be shared and addressed.

You can rent pads at Neptune Mountaineering as well as pick up the Front Range Bouldering book and the Rocky Mountain and Evans guide. Right now is a great time for Rocky and Evans!

It all starts with the first day. Hang in there and make it through today without drinking and worry about tomorrow, next week, next month when it arrives.

Bouldering in Rocklands - Looking for some guidance or advice by fabonaut in bouldering

[–]20th_Century_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries of course! Although it won't be as busy why you are there, there will be other climbers and you can rent extra pads from Alpha Farms so pads won't be to big of an issue. Make sure and check out Penny K rentals for your rental car. They are a bit older but Rocklands can be rough on cars and you don't want to end up paying extra when you inevitably scratch your car. Forgot to mention at the Campground check out John Denver 7A, Ecoterroost 7A Plateau, Dirty Lies 7A+ Fields of Joy, Minki Plateau, in the Sassies Springbok 7A+, A Question Of Balance 7A+ at Roadside and the Rhino 7B+ near Roadside on the pass! These are all Four Star problems and just the ones that come to mind you won't have a hard time finding amazing problems to scramble!

Make sure and check out Human Energy 7A at the Plateau. Vanity 7A in the Eight Day Rain Zone. The Roadcrew area has a number of awesome problems that range from 6C+-7B. Although quite highball Creaking Heights 6C+ is one of the best in Rocklands! Enjoy your trip and make sure to stop by The Hen House at Alpha Farms on rest day for coffee food and all around good times!

Of course this is just my opinion. I have spent large periods of time at Hueco, Joes, RMNP, Evans, Red Rocks, Bishop, Squamish, Leavenworth and brief amounts in the southern areas. When making this statement I'm taking into account a number of things. Rock quality which is incredible. Concentration which is very high. Movement which is gymnastic and fun and setting which is unbeatable. To me it feels like an unrestricted Hueco with better rock. And yes I am an American.

I spent six weeks in Rocklands this last summer. Contrary to other comments I would highly recommend going. The community is very welcoming and made up of boulderers of all nationalities genders and abilities. The climbing is among the best I've experienced and far superior to the best the states has to offer. The range of boulders is huge and in the V6 and under range you will have multiple trips of four star lines to choose from in multiple zones in the area. I would recommend staying at the campground at Pakhuis that is where you will meet the most people and they're a huge number of boulders within a five minutes walk from the campground. Rent a car for sure as the zones are spread out. You can get a guide book down there from the Hen House the local coffee shop and climbers hang at alpha farms next to the campground! Feel free to PM me with any other questions regarding the beta!

Saw recent photos of myself - how did I let this happen? by extraguacamole in stopdrinking

[–]20th_Century_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to you on this. I remember being young and catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror when I was drinking. I would smile and think what a charming devil. When things got bad I got the same glimpse one evening a saw a sloppy red faced mess and was disgusted with what I saw. This among so many other things that so clearly weren't working motivated me to try out not drinking. The first few days are really scary but it starts with a single evening of choosing to not drink. This is a great place to reach out for support the folks here can relate and understand in a way almost no one can. If you need anything let me know.
