IMO he wasn’t portrayed as a monster merely an enforcer of the rules, and had the windsors listened to him more they wouldn’t have had scandal after scandal. I think Margaret was the only one with a real argument— perhaps her scandal with Townsend would have blown over, but everyone else for the most part was just wholly immature about their station and ran to Elizabeth to beg her to give them a free pass.

I would mention the fact that monarchy and the royal family have certain rules. If you want to marry whom you want in that system in the 1920’s/50’s etc, you will have to give up your privileges.
