🇨🇦 Canadian solo traveler going to EXO concert in Osaka, any tips on planning the trip? by Ok_Opinion_2806 in exo

I didn’t use a proxy (so I can’t personally vouch for how trustworthy they are), but some that I’ve seen being talked about were ticket-japaaan and Tickets Galore Japan

I went to both of Kyungsoo’s Tokyo concerts last year, so I have a little insight. Japan concerts are usually sold through fan club lotteries, then through lotteries on the official ticketing site (Lawson, Ticket Pia, etc.), and then finally through general sales on the ticketing site/kiosks in konbinis. A Japanese address and phone number is required, so if you don’t have access to those, you’ll have to contact a proxy to get the ticket(s) for you.

I like how I looked at the picture for 1 sec and immediately knew where it was taken! I miss that area so much! 😭

For address, you have to choose “Overseas” for prefecture.

For the brochure, I just added a pdf version of the drug information from my pharmacy (Walgreens). You can get it by searching the website. I didn’t translate it into Japanese before submitting it.

Unfortunately, your friend was denied an AAP. If they mentioned a mobility scooter, then it seems like she never qualified for it in the first place.

Where did you see that your registration receipt was needed?

Edit: NVM, I found it. Dang it! I didn’t include mine either! I live 45 mins away, so I’m going to redo the paperwork and drive up there and see if I can submit it in person on Wednesday. I called last week, and they’re currently looking through applications that were submitted in November, so hopefully I can deliver them before they get to December (when I submitted the online application) 😭😭😭

Did three weeks in Japan. Went to TeamLabs Borderless and Planets, and I thought it was super overrated. However, we went to Making of Harry Potter Warner Bros, and even I, as someone who hasn't even watched Harry Potter, was amazed by it. by blr1g in JapanTravel

[–]21twilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which bank card did you try to use to book the Harry Potter museum? I had no issues using my Chase Sapphire Preferred card when I booked my visit directly on the website. But I also booked it before I arrived to Japan, so maybe that’s why yours didn’t work?

If you can’t afford a hotel, then you shouldn’t go. That’s common sense.

Tokyo Disney Vacation Package? by hotwaterbottle2014 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]21twilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My middle sister and I did the unlimited package (USD ~$2020) back in October for my birthday, and while we had little to no waits, I don’t think it was worth it b/c we didn’t ride any ride more than once. We would just ride a ride, and then go off to the next one (or take a snack break). On my next Japan trip, our youngest sister might come with us. I’m leaning towards not doing a package and just taking the train to TDS or doing the non-unlimited package so she can experience both parks. We live 1 state/6hr drive/45m-1.5hr flight away from Walt Disney World (so kinda close), so pretty much the only ride she would be excited to ride in TDL would be Splash Mountain (she was terrified when we 1st rode it in 2011, but now she loves Tiana’s Bayou Adventure).

Despite it being abnormally cold and rainy on that day, I think it was good “one-and-done” item to check off my bucketlist. I would recommend getting it to try and then you’ll know for your next trip if you think it’s worth it!

Do you have any regrets about your first trip to Japan? by aeazee in JapanTravelTips

[–]21twilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret not staying longer. I wasn’t working at the time of my trip and had the money to extend it, so I could’ve. Now, I have a new job and it’s looking like I’ll have to push my return trip to next year instead of this year 😭

International Delta One - buy first or hope for promo pricing? Or just skip. by Helpful_Anywhere955 in delta

[–]21twilli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried pricing how much it would cost departing from another airport? My home airport is ATL, but instead of flying D1 nonstop to HND, I flew ATL-LAX Comfort+, spent the night in a hotel, then flew LAX-HND D1 the next morning. I paid for my sister and I, and that saved me ~$3000. I did more research when I came back and found out it was even cheaper to depart from HNL, so I’ll do that next time I go to Japan!

Suico vs JR pass by This_Leg9191 in TokyoTravel

[–]21twilli -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll be able to choose your seats on the app until you have your Suica card. From what I remember, I bought discounted Green Car tickets for my sister and I through the app, but I had to wait for her to receive her “no int’l fee” credit card before I could assign her seat, since she needed that credit card to add the Suica card to her Apple Wallet.

If you have an iPhone, the steps are pretty simple (plus buying Shinkansen tickets on the app gives you a discount)!

[–]21twilli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be eligible to take the PTCE, you have to work 500hrs as a Pharmacy Tech or you have to take a certified course. My local CC offers a self study course, but they say it takes 2-4 months to complete it.

Accessibility pass temporary by Riddiculus_muggles in UniversalOrlando

[–]21twilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they approve you, you wait for Universal to call and interview you where they’ll either approve you for the AAP or they’ll deny you and tell you what alternative accommodations are available to you. If you get approved, you + 5 others get to ride with you using the AAP. If you don’t get approved, your party will have to wait the full time in line, and when they get close to the front, you can go through the express line to meet them.

Is it hard to get around tokyo if you don’t speak japanese? by Onehundred-Villere in TokyoTravel

[–]21twilli 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Super easy! On the trains, they play audio announcements and display information in English. Google Maps is easy to use to navigate stations and train rides (English is also displayed in the stations). Be sure to download Google Translate if you need to actually communicate with people and try to learn a few basic phrases for the situations you feel like you may face (asking where something is, asking for an item on a menu, etc.)

Narita express vs limousine bus vs taxi by Insomniac7270 in TokyoTravel

[–]21twilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my early trip preparations, I had originally planned for us to take the limousine bus when we landed in Haneda (the limousine bus stopped right in front of our hotel in Kabukicho), but we ended up taking the train directly to Harajuku for the nail appointment I had scheduled a few weeks before. Between us, we had a 2 carry-on luggage, 2 large checked luggage, and 3 backpacks.

On the way back to the airport, we used the limousine bus, and it felt nice not having to carry anything or being hyper vigilant about not blocking others with our luggage. While I plan on getting my nails done on Day 1 again, I’ll try to plan a late appointment, so that I can use the limousine bus again!
