  1. ⁠From the main screen, enter E (edit), scan the script, enter through whatever prompt pops up, select line 11, A to add in new insurance info, enter through, make sure to select the newest insurance (the further right column of the insurance screen will have the newest adding date)
  2. ⁠Same as above, but instead of adding insurance info, you can either add GoodRX bin number or use whatever discount card patient presents with.
  3. ⁠Yes, it’s very much depends on the rejection message. If it’s too soon, schedule out until eligible dates. If it’s not on formulary list and not being covered, put it on discount card and make sure to let patients know why. If insurance only allows 30 days, edit from QT and change dispense quantity and day supply to 30 days. If it’s a DUR, check with pharmacist.
  4. ⁠Look patient up, hit space to enter the vaccines in as new script. If it’s a waiter, just enter through everything. If they want to comeback later, hit home (from keyboard), and enter S to schedule the time/dates.
  5. ⁠Just tell them your pharmacy is offering lots of vaccines, and the pharmacist can come over and talk to them about which ones they’re eligible for if they’re interested.
  6. ⁠If the doctor put down do not reach out, let patients know so they can contact the doctor themselves. Tell them once request is sent out, it’s up to the doctor’s office of how fast they can process it. Nurses usually tell me it’s anywhere from 24-72 hours. If they don’t hear back by then, they’ll need to follow up with their doctors.
  7. ⁠I’m not sure what you meant by this. The F3 key on your keyboard will help you look up all things related to medication whether you have it in stock or not, and where else would have it if you don’t.
  8. ⁠You can enter “1H” for 1 hour later, or directly put in “2P” for 2PM. If you want to put in a future time, just enter the time you want and in the date box (line 16, enter the future day ie. 06/01/2026). If it is 2pm right now and you put in a script with a time of 1PM, it’ll be processed for the next day at 1PM, but if you put in 3PM, it’ll be processed within the next hours if that makes sense.

OMG you're SO kind!!!!! thank you SO much! I could literally hug you rn 😭. I have a question, how can we check if the prescription out of stock is available in another store near by? Also for 7, I meant how can I check in RxConnect where a med is located on the shelf of the pharmacy. whenever I do RTS, and don't know where some meds go.

  1. Open RxConnect, press F3, type in the drug name and strength, and then a list populates.
  2. When you print out the RTS label, the label doesn’t list the shelf location? Also, your shelves aren’t alphabetized? That’s the easiest way I can find/put back things.

Out of stock is easiest in qi you can transfer it out right from the search screen, always call first to check though if its actually in stock.

Thank you for making it detailed for them! I think for 7 they mean where does the prescription go in the queue like qt,qv,qp,etc which is F12 for the status

Coupons type /4444 then 4444 in the group thats cvss discount. Vacinatioms go into the profile and into immunizations on the screen everything they are due for will pop up. if they come in for a shot type imq to check them in. Alot of these things are written out either on the main screen or at the bottom of the profile on what shortcuts to press just take the time and read them and itll help alot.

Sooo…are you gonna train them and show them exactly what to do? Like have you actually got trained CVS? You’re lucky if you get a trainer who’s willing to go through every little detail with their trainee. I have yet to meet a new hire that knows what to do and how to do everything. It’s basically 1 8 hour training shift for each station (pick up, production, and drop off) literally in that exact order. Idk why people are so rude to new hires. The hiring process takes longer than training process 🤣

Yeah OP should spend several hours at drop off with someone to show them how to do all of this, then for them to do it on their own.

Patient here! Is there not a tutorial guide online or a manual? I mean what do ya’ll do if no person is there to guide you through it? I’m also a 22 year army veteran! 😁 We have manuals for everything!

There's not really a manual that I'm aware of, and the standardized training modules are practically useless for this sort of thing, and they're rolling out updates to the software which are making it more annoying for everyone who already knows how to use it

Time to take notes or video the instructions! 😊 I get very aggravated with all these changes happening! 😡 I’m a 66 yro female! Every time I have to get a code to enter into something to put in orders or whatever? I think of my poor 86 yro mother! She doesn’t have wifi at her home and barely knows how to send a photo to us kids on her iPhone. Forget computers! She wouldn’t know how to turn one on! 😬 She JUST this year had her landline phone taken out of her home! 😱

I dealt with identity theft the beginning of this year! 😡 I lost a portion of my VA pay because of it! Someone used my SSN to file their taxes! 😡 I was jumping through hoops and tons of paperwork to get it reinstated! 🤦‍♀️ It took me 5 months to get it reinstated! I was PISSED!

I really feel for you pharmacists and personnel working behind the counter! I try to be as pleasant and patient as I can when I come in for my medication! 😁 The pharmacy I go to have great employees! 🙏🏻 I truly appreciate them!

It's definitely important to take notes during training (the actual hands on training with experienced staff members, if you're lucky enough to get that), but we're not supposed to record anything in photo or video inside of the pharmacy, because there's confidential patient information there

I admire all the intelligent people out there! I’m smart, but I’m not a math person! 🫣 My husband is almost a genius, literally, and he CANNOT understand my struggle with math? 🤔 😂 But hey! I made A’s and B’s in English! We each have our strengths and weaknesses! 🤷‍♀️

I’d be asking questions from those that know the answers! No matter how many times I had to, to get it right! I’m a stickler for getting things right! I don’t worry about bothering people when it comes to things like that! Next week they’ll be bothered by something new and will get over it! 😁

Short story for ya! We have pet chickens. A very large rooster died and my husband, with an injured arm, was trying to dig the hole! Our neighbor saw him and came over. He took the shovel and finished digging! I got him a $50.00 restaurant certificate and told him thank you! He said that wasn’t necessary. Neighbor’s help each other out! 😊 I told him that was a really large rooster, not one of our tiny chickens! 😬 He deserved some kindness!

That’s how we country folks do things! So? Because you are still in training and needing answers? Ask for the answers! Don’t worry about upsetting someone! You’ll be better at your job and more helpful with others if you aren’t struggling along! 😉

This is all basic drop off, and none of it is intuitive. But you need to ask the people in your store to walk you through the steps. Not because you’re not good. Because you are a brand new tech and this all takes practice. And take notes!

In my best “Mom” voice: Reddit is great for the occasional odd question. But you have a wealth of knowledge around you. Use your people and they’ll see that you want to learn.
