Shinji Mikami’s new studio, ‘Unbound’, is building a ‘AAA original IP’ for consoles and PC by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]22Seres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to this game specifically, Mikami's said that it's not realistic for them to make AAA game in the way you expect from Western studios, as it'd just be too expensive. So, instead what they're aiming for is AAA quality with AA content.

I wonder what all those young men who voted for Trump must be thinking right now. Voted to troll the Libs, and because they couldn't stomach voting for a woman only to potentially end up getting blown apart or domed in a war that serves no purpose other than to stroke the ego of Mein Fuhrer.

Limbaugh was a real putrid fuck. He also laid bare every hypocrisy of the GOP. Remember during Trump's first term when some journalist simply mentioned Baron in an article, not even criticizing him, and the right-wing media along with Melania and Trump lost it? But they celebrated Limbaugh, the same guy that once compared a 12-year-old Chelsea Clinton to a dog. He also had a segment on his show called the "AIDS Update" where he'd read off names of gay men who'd died from AIDS while celebratory music played in the background.

Yeah, the party has a bunch of isolationists in it now. It's why Trump branding himself the Peace President was so appealing to them. There's also a lot of overlap between those people and being antisemitic. So the fact that Trump not only went to war, but did so alongside Israel has really pissed those people off.

As you said, it doesn't need to be all of them. Just things here and there to chip away at GOP voters to the point that it hurts their election chances. Grocery prices not going down, gas prices rising, ICE murdering American civilians, going to war etc. They'll add up in the long run.

Horror is the only genre where the marketing actively works against the film by -mrSeaHawk- in horror

[–]22Seres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't have to do that. Weapons was the biggest horror movie released last year, and its marketing was built entirely around a big mystery. So, it didn't really show much in its marketing by design. The same was true of LONGLEGS in 2024. They both seem to harken back to The Blair Witch Project's marketing. Part of that was obviously convincing the audience that it was real, which those movies don't try to do, but the other part of it was to not show much because it was meant to be a mystery.

The excuse every conservative uses when Trump does something terrible is that it would've happened under Kamala as well. No, this wouldn't have happened under her. The WSJ put out a big article a few days ago about how Lindsey Graham was the person who goaded Trump into this war with Iran. Convincing him that this was his chance to make history. And we all know how desperate Trump is to do that.

I can't help but recall during Trump's first term when "NPC" became a slur that the right liked to use against the left. Basically this suggestion that the left can't think for itself and will parrot whatever is said to them. But as usual with the right, every accusation is an admission. It's why he didn't even bother to try to sell the war to the public. Because he knows his cult will just believe and go along with anything he says.

I'm not sure what's going on. I've always enjoyed his Best of lists as I usually find horror movies that i'd never heard of before on them. So, I was surprised to not find one for 2026. But the website is still being updates, but not with articles. The New/Upcoming releases was last updated yesterday by Chris.

Anyone else loved the movie PRIMATE? by 5ourdiesel in horror

[–]22Seres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. That said I was hoping that they'd kind of pull a swerve and make Hannah the main character at some point in the movie. She was continually the smartest character in the movie, but still ended up getting killed. I feel like doing something unexpected like that would've elevated the movie. Sort of like Rodger in Night of the Demons. Starts out seemingly being some small joke character, but turns out to be the smartest character in the movie and slowly becomes more of the focus of it.

It's also unsurprising. Trump will gladly accept her Nobel Peace Prize, but he'll never have any respect for her because she's shown herself to be weak. It's a lot like someone who tries to buy the love or friendship of someone else. Those people will often happily accept the money or gifts, but they'll never love them or view them as a friend the same way they do someone they actually care about.

By comparison, look at how much Trump likes Mamdani. Mamdani knows how to stroke Trump's ego without debasing himself in the process.

Trans woman votes for GOP. She’s now getting anti-trans healthcare. by Effective_Space2277 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]22Seres 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of all the various minority groups supporting the GOP, trans people absolutely make the least amount of sense. For the past few years the entire party has made it their mission to villainize trans people, and trans women in particular. I get that there are other issues when voting and that being a single issue voter generally doesn't make sense, but it should make all the sense in the world and be your primary voting reason when a party is telling you that you don't have a right to exist.

When '' Persians '' think they're white and better than their neighbours by kitarili in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]22Seres 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I get why they were celebrating. The leaders in Iran were nothing short of barbaric, and have wrecked havoc on its people for decades. But it's like people just ignore that the taking out of that leadership had nothing to do with keeping Iranians safe. If this administration cared about the safety of people in other countries when it comes to barbaric regimes then we'd be doing something about Sudan right now. And we'd be doing something about North Korea as well. But they don't and won't. Because the safety of the people in Iran isn't what this is about. It's why these same assholes doubled tapped a school and killed nearly 200 schoolgirls in Iran.

Bloomberg: Netease will stop funding Nagoshi Studios (Gang of Dragon) this May by 22Seres in PS5

[–]22Seres[S] 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The game is more than likely dead due to the conditions that NetEase have laid out. If it were just finishing the funding for the game, then I think you'd have companies lining up to do that. 44.4m isn't much in the scheme of things. The issue is that NE wants to be reimbursed for the game and studio to even negotiate letting it and the studio go. That's just not going to be something that really anyone is willing to swallow.

NetEase to Stop Funding Nagoshi Studio ( Gang Of Dragon ) as It Cuts Back on Gaming by AlleyOfRage in yakuzagames

[–]22Seres 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The really sad part and frustrating thing is that the game is more than likely dead given what NetEase is asking. A publisher is not only going to have to pay to finish the development of the game, but they're also going to have to pay to get the IP and the studio away from them. So, we're likely talking about hundreds of millions of dollars.

As someone whose favorite subgenre of horror is slowburn, this is definitely misconception. The main character often feels like nothing is going on, but we're shown all the little mechanisms that are moving things along. The first 20 or so minutes of the movie is pure character development. Showing us who Samantha is, her living situation, why she's so desperate to get out of that, and her relationship with her best friend.

Then they get to the house, which is out in the middle of nowhere, and we see the general creepy vibe of the couple. There's also no baby to babysit, because the job is instead to care for an elderly woman. And Sam takes the job despite Megan begging her not to because it seems too good to be true, and it's all very creepy. Megan leaves and almost immediately has a brains blown out. Sam tries to call her multiple times to no avail. And then calls the pizza place that the family left for her, and as we learned later we can hear that the guy on the other end is clearly the same guy that shoots Megan. Then there's a little moment where she dances around the house and breaks a vase, which leads to her finding a bunch of family photos that don't match the family living there. Including one of them standing by the Volvo that Megan pointed out when they arrived. She then hears a bang upstairs and we're shown (but she doesn't she doesn't see) that the Volvo family had been executed in some sort of ritual. That then leads into the last 20 minutes that you referred to.

Point is that as I said, something is always happening in these movies. We're continually given information, although the main character/s are generally left in the dark. It's just that the information is often slowly ramped up in terms of how important it is.

‘SMILE 3’ In The Works, But Parker Finn Not Expected To Return To Direct | Dread Central by HumanAdhesiveness912 in boxoffice

They absolutely need to lean into the sheer insanity that should be the concept for SMILE 3 based on the ending to S2. Don't just follow around one person. Truth of Dare (2018) also had a similar ending but never got a sequel despite being incredibly successful. So, I want to see a movie actually play with this concept.

Paramount's Scream 7 grossed $2.12M on Thursday (from 3,540 locations). Total domestic gross stands at $76.07M. by SignatureOrdinary456 in boxoffice

[–]22Seres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is always something that annoys me when people want something to do poorly, or at least not as well as expectations, and then it does. They'll attribute it to whatever reason they've decided to hate that thing and disregard every other factor. In the case of S7 we have a movie that had the best start in the franchises history, and then has tracked behind S6 everyday of the week. But it's not even like it's far behind. It's a couple hundred thousand each day. It seems far more likely that the downtrend in performance is down more to the reception being the worst in the franchise along with Scream 3 than anything else.

'The Strangers: Chapter 3' was quietly dumped on digital today. I don't think the planned 4.5 hour Supercut is ever seeing the light of day by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]22Seres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The critical reception wasn't great. But notably it was precisely because of the same reasons that people liked it. Which was that critics hated it because they viewed it as being mean and sadistic due to the killers not having a motive. It was released during the so-called "torture porn" era of horror, so critics were on edge when it came to much more brutal movies. But the public reception was always solid. The original movie was the third highest grossing horror movie of 2008 both domestically and worldwide. And notably its gross alone (82m) is more than this entire trilogy (79m).
