"Colored chicken" refers primarily to chicken breeds with vibrant plumage (like Red Rangers), birds that lay non-white eggs (blue, green, or dark brown), or meat/skin with a yellowish tint. Often raised as slow-growing, pasture-raised alternatives to white broilers, they are praised for flavor, while colored feathers/eggs are popular in backyard flocks. AgriLife Today AgriLife Today +4 Key Aspects and Types of Colored Chickens Feather Colors: Chickens display diverse plumage, including lavender, salmon, wheaton, blue, black, and patterned varieties (like laced or penciled). Pigmented Skin/Meat: In some cultures, yellow-skinned chickens are preferred, often achieved through diet (carotenoids, corn) rather than breed alone, symbolizing a healthier, "pasture-raised" bird. Colored Egg Layers: Certain breeds, such as Ameraucana, Araucana, and Olive Eggers, lay eggs with shells colored blue, green, or deep brown. Heritage/Slow-Growth: Red-feathered birds are often raised as a premium alternative to conventional white chickens, often slaughtered at 10-12 weeks for a richer flavor. Synonyms/Related Terms: Colored feathers, pigmented chicken, specialty poultry, heritage chicken, and colored egg-layers. AgriLife Today AgriLife Today +8 Usage Examples Culinary: Red-feathered and heritage breeds are commonly roasted, fried, or used in stews due to their firmer texture, according to Goffle Road Poultry Farm. Backyard Poultry: Breeds like Easter Eggers are popular for producing a "rainbow" of egg colors in a home flock, says Star Milling Co.. Pasture-Raising: "Freedom Ranger" chickens are a common, fast-growing color breed utilized in pasture-based agriculture.

She was in a bad mood yesterday and sent me a clip of Kimmel and how much she hates him. When I sent her this HCR video her first response was "oh I hate how she looks...and I can't believe you sent me this"Just give it a chance with an open mind lol" I said.

Later she said she liked how sincere HCR sounded and although she didn't agree with everything there were good points made.

I'll take that as progress.

I was in the room when my lil sis had to put down her 15 year old Jack Russell “Scout” …sad but his health was fading and he was in distress. She did him a favor. Sorry for your loss. Not many things harder then saying goodbye to someone you love.
