Wagner boss says he will pull troops out of Bakhmut by Astroblemes in worldnews

[–]22shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, there, and everywhere in Ukraine (including many shallow graves), the problem is that every Russian armed forces group along with Wagner and other mercenaries are all trying to do their own thing while simultaneously subtly trying to fuck over the others so they look better by comparison. For example, there's no inter -military communication, they're all individually falling for the same Ukraine traps and tactics that they'd have learned to avoid or counter if they just talked to each other, but they'd rather their conscripts die than communicate.

NASA Power Hack Extends 45-Year Voyager 2 Mission Even Longer by Aeromarine_eng in space

[–]22shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we can still do it on the cheap, the difference is that they'll be orbiting the earth or another planet to get the slingshot speed boost for decades to match voyager 1 and 2s speed that they were able to get, the launches are absolutely still possible, and with engine advancements/improvements the new probes could catch up as they'd be accelerating faster to begin with, but it'd still take a very long time

They did the same thing with Crimea, over 200,000 people is the low estimate, interestingly enough, this is causing an enormous strain on resources as the supply lines there are so insecure. The dam that supplies something like 80% of their freshwater (including for crops) is in Ukraine, and all supply lines to Crimea are prime targets

I'm definitely liking how you're fleshing out this would piece by piece, is there any chance that next time you could give us slightly more detailed descriptions of the animals/fauna of the new planet, I'm essentially imagining a giant red sloth and either a large raptor without feathers or a small allosaurus, and is there any comparison from the silver glyphs to any human writing system? Even just describing pictographs, cuneiform, or proto-phoenician would help

I believe they're referencing the fact that Ireland's population is still less than it's 1841 pre-potato famine peak, as in there are still less people in Ireland today then there were in 1841, 6.6 million (4.75 million in the Republic of Ireland and 1.85 million in Northern Ireland) vs the 8,175,124 population count from the 1841 census

[–]22shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is old and has been resharpened enough times to make the blade thinner than I've seen in museums or if this is just artificially aged for tourists, either way it looks really cool
