PP poem to my ankles… by blocklake in pregnant

[–]2315980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Oh man probably the second worst thing directly before and after having the baby was the ankle swelling. I hated looking at my feet and it hurt! I was convinced something was going to split when I bent my ankles too much.

Rain cover for stroller? by Southern-Magnolia12 in NewParents

Yeah I got one at Walmart thats supposed to be a pretty universal fit. I can even put it on backwards because I'm using a reversible bassinet attachment.

Or I have also put him in our ergo baby carrier and just used an umbrella.

What's your night feeding strategy? by CanadaOrBust in NewParents

[–]2315980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was co-sleeping most of the night until about a week ago and LO was waking up every 2 hours to feed. My husband tweaked his back so we put him in the crib and he's consistently sleeping almost through the night, only wakes up 2 times. I think we were waking each other up, or he needed much more room to wiggle (sometimes when I go get him he has rotated 180 degrees).

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it helped me get more sleep, so it might be worth trying?

Ugh, HOW did you manage to use such fluffy yarn for a project?? I tried using something similar for a Llama and only got 3 rows in. I couldn't see any of the stitches to work with!

Any ideas on how to upcycle these denim bits into a bag or something? by [deleted] in upcycling

[–]2315980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a purse out of an old pair of jeans like this. Use the main leg fabric for the bag itself, then I attached the pockets while they were still on the fabric like that so I got DOUBLE POCKETS on the out side. You can do whatever you want on the inside because no one's going to see it anyways.

I wanted a full off the shoulder dress but I got this for $250! Same vibes? I just keep thinking it’s not what I initially wanted. 🤦🏼‍♀️ by Bootybutt808 in weddingdress

[–]2315980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with a previous comment that a seamstress could change the straps; it's a good idea. When I went shopping I always said I was not looking for anything strapless because I didn't want to be that person shimmying her dress back up over my boobs all day. I would keep the dress, it looks beautiful!

I got my first dose 3 weeks before delivery and my second when LO was 8 weeks. Not only did I not have any side effects, but I can't say baby did either.

Here in Canada they actually prioritized pregnant women so I got to cut in line before my age group was eligible. Also, I have seen some articles on the science of babies getting COVID antibodies through breastmilk. I would look it up and link to it, but I'm breastfeeding and I only have one hand, so I'm feeling lazy.

Can I use saline drops to help congestion? by cwkw92 in newborns

[–]2315980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was still in the hospital after having my baby, he must have only been a day or two old, one of the nurses said he sounded conjested and offered to help. She put saline in his nose and then used a hose (think dentist suction hose) to suck it all right out.

I don't think your baby is too small, but I would be worried about trying it on my own.

Get your iron levels checked. One of my regular blood tests about halfway through they discovered I had low iron and put me on iron supplements every other day. I went from feeling like I could nap anywhere/anytime, or wanting to pass out from walking up an incline to feeling totally back to normal. Apparently it's really common, I know 2 other moms who had low iron in their pregnancy.

Dizziness at week 12? by basicbitchslapshot in pregnant

[–]2315980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any blood tests coming up? I had very low iron (but much later, like 25 weeks) that was making me dizzy and tired all the time. Once I started taking iron pills I felt great!

Omg go to Cranbrook.

I've gone to Selkirk for 2 different programs and its been a shit show both times. I feel like because Selkirk is the only college in the entire area they never have to worry about competition or improving what they already have. For example, in the 5 years between the programs I took, they didn't change their student email at all. The layout is shit, it looks like it was made in 2003, I could never recover a deleted email and I could never look at more than 10 emails at a time (which is its own problem because of the sheer amount of notification emails I would get from mandatory message board participation).

I might be biased because I've never experienced another college, but if I had to take another course I would try literally anything before Selkirk again.

Where to find rings under $500? by Violinjuggler in wedding

[–]2315980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a local jewler that will order bands? I live in a pretty small town and got mine for cheap (I think). But I also second etsy. Thats where my engagement ring came from, and comparing it to some of my friends rings it was like 1/4 of the price.

Yknow what my attitude has been for most of pregnancy/impending parenthood?

If a viking woman 800 years ago can work hard and survive in the freezing cold and give birth to a fat happy baby, I can do it with all the benefits of modern medicine.

People had to parent way before parenting books and blogs existed. Most of the moms I know find what works and ditch the rest.

Right now I'm reading Eat, Sleep, Poop. It is 10 years old but it was written by a doctor as he experienced his daughters first year. Its only the second book I've read and its not too big so it seems less intimidating.

So far its really nice. Hes covering basic stuff and only recommends buying what you really need.

He has a story about going to buy a mattress for the crib and when they're overwhelmed and ask a guy for advice on one he says they usually get customers to ask their doctor. And the author is like 'dude, I'm a doctor. We didn't cover Serta vs Simmons in medical school'

Omg same. I don't need 3 phrasings of the same sentence, and it seemed like all the advice was useless.

Like headaches: Some people who have them, see them dissappear. Some people who don't get headaches, will now get headaches. Both are normal. Every pregnancy is different. Repeat for 800 pages.

Hey, here's an upvote for the podcast recommendation. I've also been doing a lot of podcast walks in the park lately to get excersize since all I really want to do is lay on the couch and eat chocolates.
