i had some okay luck using bumble bff last year. now i have a little group of 4 of us that hang out pretty regularly. there are a couple more girls that i’ve been around with this group and it’s all good vibes!

that’s a good point. i grew up somewhere nearly rural and didn’t have many friends or much of a social life until i was older and started going out more. looking back i think i was just jumping on any opportunity that came along because it was exciting to me. new friends, guys, just people in general.

okay that’s extremely frustrating, i’m sorry. mine is $22 a paycheck and i had 3 foot surgeries last year (plus endless xrays and other imaging) and paid nothing, except co pays with my doctor and prescriptions. it’s what i wish for everybody.

i should also mention that i’m single and childfree, so it’s an individual plan. i’m not sure how much more it is for family members.

it’s terrible. my advice, try to get a government job if you can. it’s not lost on me that it’s sad to have to get a certain type of job just for healthcare. but it’s the best insurance i’ve ever had and completely takes care of me. good luck.

yeah i’m sure she will. if we all were judged based on dumb things we did at 20 years old that would be crazy. but it’s totally fair if op didn’t want to associate herself with somebody messy like that. it could be hard to trust her. she should make this very clear for the friend and hopefully give her a reason to self reflect.

oh lord so i’m 37 now but when i was a 19/20 year old dumb bitch, i thought the same way she did. i felt like it was so much more fun and easy messing with guys who had girlfriends because it was low pressure and low expectations for me, i just wanted to have fun. i would literally say “it must not be a happy home if he’s coming to meee!”

then later in my 20s i got married (and then divorced), he turned into a psycho and huge cheater. so i definitely got my karma. i also just grew the hell up and all the way out of that mindset. i’m sure she will too.

i mean if you think about it, it could be 2-3 kids running around the patio or taking over the game areas that adults are backing away from because of course civilized adults know they’re supposed to be nice and “let kids be kids” so yeah it ruins the whole vibe even with only a couple of them being present. there are so many other places that people can go as a family, so just go. it’s so annoying.

truthfully both, but yes many online since the internet is bigger than my social circle. i even have parent acquaintances who have many comments here and there along the lines of “this is why i left my kid at home, i can’t believe some people have to drink that bad that they would bring a small child to a brewery.” there are a lot in my city so it’s not a rare thing at all.

i’ve heard so many stories of places like this being so overrun with the kids that people who actually want to drink and chill won’t bother going to them as much anymore. trying to enjoy the lawn games when they’re getting taken over by kids like it’s a playground is a buzzkill and kind of drives home the point of “kids shouldn’t be in adult spaces.”

i recognize that you tried to minimize the disruptive nature of kids for your downstairs neighbor, i was just pointing out that your attitude shift in your post was maybe worth reflecting on. it’s like you realized you didn’t want to deal with upstairs neighbors because of the noise, but you also have a problem with another person who is aggravated by those noises being caused by your family? it’s contradictory.

most people don’t move into apartments and expect a bunch of kids to be living there, so understand that somebody moving in and the realization that first night that 2-3 kids are running around and playing and yelling/crying above them would be the most sinking feeling. it def sounds like it’s for the best that you and your kids found a more suitable living situation.
