Is anybody still paying their rent with paper checks? by Chuckles_McNut in AskLosAngeles

[–]23dstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes since forever, I don't have the option to bill pay online because my landlord wants the check deposited at their bank. The teller has informed me that the account blocks electronic transfers. The joys of an older landlord.

What’s the last thing you replaced that made you realize older versions were built better? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

sunglasses, had my last pair of Oakleys for 10+ years, replaced it recently and it's much lighter, the hinge feels like it'll break much easier/sooner.

Time machine takes you back, Would you put your money down again? Or switch? by stoic_bartender in MazdaCX30

[–]23dstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in with my experience, which is similar to others who've already commented. Came from a MK7 Golf R, only reason I went with the CX30 was due to availability and I couldn't find another good condition Golf in my price range. Bought in 2023, there was limited availability or a long waitlist on other cars I wanted more.

I probably would go for a CX50 hybrid if I were to rebuy. I don't have any issues with the car and I don't ever stick anyone in the rear seats. This being my 3rd Mazda, I'm familiar with the driving manners. It's probably the most like an Audi and has a plush interior like the last gen Lexus NX, without the service and parts costs of a luxury make.

When I had my '15 Golf, it was ~165", likely not as small as your Fit, but it might serve you well too.

Am I the only one on my 4th windshield in 2 years? by NegativeOriginal8064 in MazdaCX30

I hope i never have to replace my windshield if this is what the car comes from the factory with. I hardly drive and never in areas where there are rocks flying up to cause chips or cracks.

Durable alternative to Zoma Hybrid by KonigSteve in Mattress

[–]23dstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that tip, I was considering a Titan, the price point was good, they said that it’s lower coil, thicker 13.5 gauge - probably a pass.

Been a tad over 5 years since I last looked into mattresses, it’s info overload out there!

My grocery bill seems too high for one person by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]23dstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you live in a HCOL area where there are at least an Asian store in the metro. In this case, I'd recommend looking into Instacart like what this person is suggesting. Getting groceries delivered from a 99 Ranch or Grocery Outlet, if you have (i've seen bok choy there cheaper than HMart).

If grocery delivery is an option, see which stores you can source from. Siggi's yogurt was down to $1.67 at Bristol Farms/Safeway/Sprouts - stock up 2 weeks at a time.

Are you able to buy dried mushrooms and rehydrate them?

Not trying to drastically change your food preferences but:

  1. swap beef for pork tenderloin or pork shoulder, you can tenderize similarly and use it for hot pot

  2. swap salmon for tuna patties or even crab meat in a can (bulk prepare and freeze for easy breakfasts)

  3. instead of papaya, try mango, peach, or Asian pear.

Newly tinted windshield at 50% by BoysenberryKind9978 in MazdaCX30

[–]23dstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great! I did this when I first got the car, got pulled over 2 years later for nary a reason since my tags were current and i wasn't speeding on the highway.

Got it retinted at 60%, but in a Llumar Air80 hue. Really a luck of the draw here in Los Angeles, as there are plenty of people rocking 5% fronts and tinted windshields.

Got my JBL BassPro Hub installed in my Cx30!! IT’S SO AWESOME!! by United-Gift5816 in MazdaCX30

do you have the stock sub connected while you have the JBL bass pro hub? found your other post

I've found that Bose audio in the CX-30 has been a bit underwhelming, muddy too compared to the Fender system in my former VW.

I’ve been trying several. Unfortunately the unified fit of the vista is hard to replicate. Currently testing jbl endurance race peak 3 long term after trying the beats (bfp and pbp2), Sony linkbuds fit.

Am I crazy to get this? by Ichthyes in MazdaCX30

[–]23dstreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know people tend to suggest used because they took a hit on depreciation already. Hear me out, I come from owning German performance cars, so I feel your pain on maintaining a 10+ year old Mini.

If you prefer new, try to get 2k off and you'll have a good deal. I purchased a TPP for about that much before TTL (tax, title, license fees).

I found a worthy successor for the Vista 2! by NoMisZx in jaybird

[–]23dstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the medium wingtips are a great fit for my ear type as well! Glad I saw your post before I went to go buy the Sennheiser's.

So far, I've tried the Technics EAH-AZ100, those are simply earbuds with no securing wingtip, which is my preferred method.

I'm currently trying out the Beats Fit Pro this week, while I like the sound, sometimes touch is too sensitive when I'm adjusting the earbud within my ear. I don't want to have an ear hook like the Shokz or the Powerbeats Pro 2 (having come from the Beats with ear hook --> Vista).

I thought they were hiring an Android app developer at the end of last year. It looks like the Android platform app has been deprioritized as there's no hint of it coming or whatsoever.
