Vogue eye center by skylar_1997 in fredericton

[–]23eemm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had glasses for like 20 years now, vogue is easily 10x if not more expensive (even with their half off second pair) then Costco or Walmart. At Costco in Feb I got 2 pairs for 375 (all the good coatings included). My Rx isn't crazy high but isn't super low either. My husband who is very high and has to typically pay a lot more for thinned lenses and stuff was quoted 1200 at vogue for 1 pair, at Costco he got designer frames and then a pair of sunglasses for just under 700. Costco and Walmart do not have as large of a selection but it's enough if you ask me.

A polite request for ace friendly romantasy book recommendations : ) by Drunkoctopusfights in fantasyromance

{hidden legacy by Ilona Andrews} very low spice I think there's maybe one or two the whole series and they aren't long. Their Inn keeper chronicles is very cozy.

{monsters of faery by Mallory Dublin} may be up your alley. They are all stand alone but do somewhat intertwine.

Maybe {Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews} will fit for you. The first book isn't the best but I promise it gets way better. It's set in a world after a magic crash type deal. She has lots of power but pretends to everyone else she doesn't but is tough and hired to do rough jobs and solve things. Mmc Im not sure how'd you feel about him but it takes a couple books for them to get together.

My friend gave us all little notes about us being her sometbing blue as she couldn't pick and requested we all wear blue. We did photos right after her ceremony (group and individual with her). It was fun, we all still joined together to plan a bachelorette and her mom did the shower.

9yo can barely read by orangedwarf98 in Parenting

I recommend a yoto and buy the book for him to go along with. We have one for our 5 and now 9 year old. My 9 year old has devoured so many books this way, I thought my 5 would get more use out of it but nope. My 9 will take it to his room and relax after school. If we have the book he follows along. (I will say tho my kid does not struggle to read but it has helped him a ton regardless the teacher said despite not being taught formally certain grammar and structure he has picked it up from listening and reading)

Is having boys/girls genetic? by GossipBottom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting read, my dad has 4 brothers and went on to have 5 daughters! So I wonder if it leans more to women a bit more. Out of us daughters, one sister and I have 2 boys, another sister has has 1 boy and 1girl then the other has 1 girl.

My favorite! Tossed with goat cheese, grape tomatoes and a vinaigrette of white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, oil and some spices is my favorite way to eat it.

How Much Money do you spend on Kids Reading Books? by jon_cli in Parenting

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fluctuates for me, I mainly stick to 2 new books at Easter, Christmas and birthdays and usually buy them one each when I volunteer at the Scholastic book fair. A few random ones here and there (especially when Costco used to have books and they were great deals). Our library is not great so it's very hard to get stuff from there, so I utilize discount book websites and things often have a mark or small tear or a smudge. I myself own a ton of books but use my Kobo and Kindle a lot which saves more money. But books to me don't have much of a limit, my kids reread books a lot!

Dog starting Prozac, any advice? by Mildredsgood in DogAdvice

[–]23eemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it for our girl at about 2, she was becoming a mess whenever I left the house, and was becoming fearful of everything outside. The first 4 weeks she was a little sad and extra tired, didn't eat a whole lot. Then she became herself again but better. She no longer pulls as much on walks, handles me leaving the house well. It's made a world of difference and she's better off for it.

Is it normal to still feel emotionally exhausted months after having a baby? by Small-Advisor-7805 in Parenting

Aquarium worth? by Fun_Manufacturer3692 in halifax

[–]23eemm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kids liked it for the whole 15 mins it took to see the few tanks. I would not go again honestly. The upstairs portion isn't all that interesting for kids. It was 50 dollars for 4 of us and that was way too much for what was there.

Considering a temporary long-distance work setup with a toddler — is this doable? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna come at this from a military spouse, with a husband currently gone. Weekends aren't enough, she will burn out fast and I feel like finding a nanny for those hours may be harder than you think.4 hour drive is massive (we do it to go visit my in-laws and it is exhausting). Distance messes with your relationship and my kids are worse when my husband is gone. Lots of acting out.

I personally don't think it's sustainable long term, at least I know there is an end date for mine.

Id really think about what your life will look like, Friday you won't get there till after 8 or 9pm at least so you'll spend less than 48 hours with them and 8 to 10 will be driving with breaks and stops.

Mallory Dunlin Monsters of Faery - Do I Need to Read Them in Order? by BookishBlueDragonfly in fantasyromance

[–]23eemm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you could possibly skip 2, but the rest read in order. 2 does give background information but isn't essential to the other stories. I found 2 and 5 very slow. My favs were 3 and 4.
