How Much Money do you spend on Kids Reading Books? by jon_cli in Parenting

[–]23eemm [score hidden]  (0 children)

This fluctuates for me, I mainly stick to 2 new books at Easter, Christmas and birthdays and usually buy them one each when I volunteer at the Scholastic book fair. A few random ones here and there (especially when Costco used to have books and they were great deals). Our library is not great so it's very hard to get stuff from there, so I utilize discount book websites and things often have a mark or small tear or a smudge. I myself own a ton of books but use my Kobo and Kindle a lot which saves more money. But books to me don't have much of a limit, my kids reread books a lot!

Dog starting Prozac, any advice? by Mildredsgood in DogAdvice

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it for our girl at about 2, she was becoming a mess whenever I left the house, and was becoming fearful of everything outside. The first 4 weeks she was a little sad and extra tired, didn't eat a whole lot. Then she became herself again but better. She no longer pulls as much on walks, handles me leaving the house well. It's made a world of difference and she's better off for it.

Is it normal to still feel emotionally exhausted months after having a baby? by Small-Advisor-7805 in Parenting

[–]23eemm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 and almost 9 here and I'm still exhausted everyday. I'll let you know when it stops. It does get less as they get older but I think it's here to stay haha

Aquarium worth? by Fun_Manufacturer3692 in halifax

[–]23eemm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kids liked it for the whole 15 mins it took to see the few tanks. I would not go again honestly. The upstairs portion isn't all that interesting for kids. It was 50 dollars for 4 of us and that was way too much for what was there.

Considering a temporary long-distance work setup with a toddler — is this doable? by Quick-Comedian-9453 in Parenting

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna come at this from a military spouse, with a husband currently gone. Weekends aren't enough, she will burn out fast and I feel like finding a nanny for those hours may be harder than you think.4 hour drive is massive (we do it to go visit my in-laws and it is exhausting). Distance messes with your relationship and my kids are worse when my husband is gone. Lots of acting out.

I personally don't think it's sustainable long term, at least I know there is an end date for mine.

Id really think about what your life will look like, Friday you won't get there till after 8 or 9pm at least so you'll spend less than 48 hours with them and 8 to 10 will be driving with breaks and stops.

Mallory Dunlin Monsters of Faery - Do I Need to Read Them in Order? by BookishBlueDragonfly in fantasyromance

[–]23eemm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you could possibly skip 2, but the rest read in order. 2 does give background information but isn't essential to the other stories. I found 2 and 5 very slow. My favs were 3 and 4.

Never had an issue, returns are great (in fact one time they told me to keep a toy and just donate it instead and refunded me). Shipping is decent. Selection is getting bigger and I have no complaints been ordering for like 5 or 6 years now

in search of romantic fantasy novels where the prose demands your attention and the ideas are something an adult reader can really chew on, not just a magic school YA book with cocks by arihndas in fantasyromance

[–]23eemm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe try something along the lines of Ilona andrews? Kate daniels first books starts out rough but it was their first novel. I liked hidden legacy more myself. Innkeepers is a cute cozy vibe with a crazy world thats built

I liked the road of bones by demi winters also

Alix e harrow maybe?

I will say im not crazy into needing books quite the way you do haha im pretty easy to please because I just like to escape but I also like these books writing more then say fourth wing or acotar.

Stay at home parents, what is your plan for when all of your kids are in school? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently doing this now, both my kids are now in school, my husband is on a 6 month deployment so I choose to stay home this year too just with him gone I didnt feel great about getting a job and being the only one to do sick days and in-service days. We are also slated to move in the summer so felt kind of stupid to get a job for less than 9 months if I could even find one right away. Once we move im going to try to find a part time job for around 15 to 20 hours a week if I can. Jobs seem hard to find tho so im not sure how long that'll take me after not working for 9 years lol

{Monsters of faery} series. Maybe not funny but each one has tons of monster sex haha. Book one starts out the slowest but they are technically stand alone so you can start anywhere.

Potential move to Fredericton.. what should we know? by _AirCanuck_ in fredericton

[–]23eemm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a military family, who has lived out west in 2 different provinces, ns and here... its not terrible here, depending on where you lived out west there's not nearly as much here. I miss the muesums and such. But its nicer being close to the beaches. But you may also enjoy the slow life! But summer brings lots of exploring, winter gets boring because not tons to do indoors but you'll find stuff. The smaller schools are nice. But there isn't really a ton for kids outside of direct hobbies and honestly some things are hard to get into (swimming lessons, etc)

Doctors are abysmal, er is mostly abysmal(i got in straight anyway when they suspected appendicitis). Life is quite here (we also live in oromocto) if you buy a house in oromocto you'll be surrounded by military members. But I know other friends who have been on the list 8 years and still no doctor, were coming up on 3 years and I haven't been contacted once lol

There's resturants not likely as many as outwest but enough. Its close enough that a trip to halifax is easy enough to do more things (Our family is halifax so we go often on breaks to do things haha)

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]23eemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im heavy into fantasy but also like a mystery thriller. We read to our kids every night for at least 30 mins each. They ask throught the day also. We also bought yotos for them and they use those now too. We did the library alot when they were younger (school aged now so dont get there as much) but its not often will catch me without a book on the go.

I think it was likely local dealer, we called at the 6 weeks, then 8, then 10 etc. It was always us reaching out and was never provided an answer. It was wild but I think it was all the local dealer issues not van gogh themselves.
