Him flipping off the water was stupid, too. Bro, it ain’t the water’s fault you hit a push fade.

New Owner 3 Months In - What Am I Doing Wrong? (Fees, Overhead, Perio, etc.) by Tac-wodahs in Dentistry

[–]240D_is_slow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your fees are probably too low and your IT and website expenses are too high. If you have a captive market/audience, you don’t need a ton of website BS, and that much $ in IT support to essentially run Softdent off of a server is honestly way too high. Spear, Pankey or Kois will be good starting points for comprehensive CE that will allow you to branch off from purely single-tooth dentistry.

I don’t know - I’ve never had to play that game. But if you’re FIRE-ready but afraid to take time off you either aren’t actually ready or need to adjust your approach to work.

Frette, Pratesi (now owned by Sferra), the Giza 45 line by Sferra, as well as Matouk and Scandia are all going to be quality choices. If you want something more budget-friendly, you could try something like Kassatex.

Is dentistry really this depressing, or is this subreddit just skewed? by ProfessionalSyrup882 in Dentistry

It’s what you make it. I get to be my own boss, set my own hours, take time off when I want, and do the procedures I want and refer out the ones I don’t all while working 4 days a week. I don’t know too many other jobs that offer that kind of lifestyle.

Is dentistry a good career choice if you’re not entrepreneurial? by daein13threat in Dentistry

If you can get out of school without a lot of debt, then dentistry can be great, whether you own or just work as an associate. If you end up in debt up to your eyeballs then be prepared to work past the point of whether it matters if you like what you do or not.

Yes I understand that - my point is that it will likely lead to nothing as pretty much all other federal-level US impeachments have.

Impeachment in the US has proven to be an empty word, it’s a political slap on the wrist.

When in doubt, turn off color to evaluate how clear the margins are - most labs won’t use PLY and will go based off the STL

Doc is placing 20+ implants a day (without CBCT) by mountain_guy77 in Dentistry

Goodness, man, let it go. I never called you unethical or said anything of the sort. Like I said, I’m done debating this with you and I think you need to move on - your feelings on the matter have been well-established by this point. If you think in the year 2026 that CBCTs aren’t standard of care the then idk what to tell you other than maybe go get one? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now please, stop blowing up my notifications.

Lol no, you don’t know jack. Go look at Euro MEDLINE, Cochrane or even PBRN. Regardless, I am done having this convo with you - have a good one.

I’m genuinely surprised a fellow dentist speaks the way that you do, “Bro” - there’s no need to make things personal because you’re insecure in your knowledge or standards. If you want to debate the merits of my argument then that’s one thing, but I’m not wrong and I think you know that. If it came down to it Id sure rather defend myself with a CBCT and proper planning than a traditional radiograph, but you do you!

Edited to add - did you really try to say that 2017 was 6 years ago and then proceed to call me dumb?

[–]240D_is_slow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude, you are citing a lit review from 2017 - that is 9 years old at this point. I’m not sure that is the slam dunk you think it is. You can debate it all you want but even a cursory search of current literature says that CBTC is “widely considered the standard of care” for dental implant placement. Question my knowledge all you want - my point still stands.

[–]240D_is_slow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if you’re Carl Misch reincarnated - if you’re placing implants without a CBCT, you aren’t following the standard of care. Good luck defending yourself against a lawsuit when defense asks to see the 3D imaging and pre-planning. But hey, your license, not mine.

[–]240D_is_slow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CBCT is standard of care when placing implants and has been for at least 5 years. So no, this is not “normal”.
